That only worked because Carolina was the only team willing to buy out marleau and take the 2 year hit. The leafs dont want KK at his current hit and production and they certainly dont want to pay the buy out
Personally i think they might hang on to him for one more year to see if he can get back to his form last year. But also, cap is really tight for the offseason and he is imo the least valuable contract on the team. If they couldn't move him without getting somewhat decent value they should just buy him out. It's a long buyout but a very cheap one. They def won't be trading a 1st to move him.
