An optimistic next few months for the Buffalo Sabres

Created by: sensonfire
Team: 2024-25 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 27, 2024
Published: Mar. 28, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Florida wins the Stanley Cup, giving Buffalo a 5th round pick instead of a 7th round pick from the trade for Kyle Okposo.

2. Buffalo wins the draft lottery and selects Macklin Celebrini with the #1 overall pick.

3. After more than a decade of missing the playoffs, Terry and Kim Pegula make a pledge to the Sabres front office that they will work towards adopting a "hands-off" approach on how they operate.

4. Sabres GM Kevyn Adams sets off to make the Sabres a bigger, meaner and more physical hockey team that will not be pushed around, starting with a trade at the draft involving a team that needs some cap relief.

5. UPL is signed to a team-friendly bridge deal and is the de facto starting goalie for the Sabres going forward.

6. Sabres manage to get through the offseason and make their team harder to play against without sacrificing any of their 1st round picks or blue-chip prospects.

7. Around the start of training camp, Rasmus Dahlin is named Captain of the Buffalo Sabres.

    Yes.

But if all of that is just too much, florida can keep the fifth round pick. And I think I'd rather see tuch named captain, especially with the changes.

You need cap space for next season.

    Good luck finding it.

Care to explain what your plan is ??

I bet your plan, if you even have one, for finding cap space for next season is even more "god awful" than this trade.

hmmm zucker - a 30+yo UFA W not in future plans in AZ wasnt scoring alot didnt play D or crouse a 26yo physical F 20G, plays great D and on good contract w term and is major part of future plans (likely the capt next year).
    I didnt see the comparision

bwhsocal said it perfectly, plus zucker was making $5m, he's not worth a whole lot
plus crouse enjoys AZ and has been there for many years

It's not the comparison that's the issue.

The issue is AZ sold themselves short.

Which they've done on other players as well ...

And you're in the minority on whether Crouse is on a good contract apparently.

He did not say it perfectly.

Because Crouse is not on a good contract.

two year old internet poll yeah thats proof.
also who else have they sold short?

and if crouse is such a bad contract why would you want him?

bottom line this trade is awful for AZ and zero chance they do it

    1. Under your current GM, AZ has sold themselves short on ...

    Dumba
    Zucker
    Chychrun
    Gostisbehere
    Timmins

    2. I explain why Buffalo would want Crouse in the description.

    3. The money that will be spent on Crouse for the remainder of his contract could go towards a new arena.

I heard AZ is in desperate need of one.

dumba was awful, zucker was rental, timmins played 6 games in 2 years for AZ, ghost they got good picks for rental. chychrun would have liked better haul but think his injury history hurt alot.

yeah the 4m makes or breaks a 2billion project you are so smart
