Guentzel isn't signing in Ottawa - I'd say that's almost a for sure thing.

That goaltending tandem is horrific and scares the hell outta me, I wouldn't trust that to help you try to make playoffs let alone win a series.

Brannstrom isn't worth a 2nd - a late 3rd at best. He's falling on the depth chart and needs a new contract so Ottawa has no leverage. Veteran guys with better track records like Zadorov and Edmundson both went for a 3rd and a 5th so theres no chance Brannstrom gets more than they did.

This lineup would still likely compete for a lottery pick more than a playoff spot. Just not enough defensive adjustment or goaltending to help make a push.

How many 1st round picks does it take before OTT figures out their problem is the .888 SV% and get a real goalie

Habs fans always seem to be trying to acquire big names. Ottawa doesn't need Guentzel. That cap space needs to be spent on RD, forward middle/bottom 6 2way vets, and goaltending help.

Sens have plenty of scoring. Their issues is playing better defensively and reliable goaltending. Guentzel doesn't solve either. He's a "hope they can outscore their issues" solution, which Staios doesn't want.

That contract for Broissoit isn't enough. And I'm not sure he'd be target. How many times will Sens trade/sign for backups in hopes of solving goaltending. I feel like if Staios makes a move at goalie, he'd be more for trading for a proven 1A/starter. Else, you're just wasting assets with hope.

I can see Brannstrom being traded, I don't see them signing him to a two year deal first. I also don't see him fetching a 2nd. He's mis cast in the Sens lineup.

I don't see Staios doing nothing at RD and hoping the draft pick fixes the issue. He made it clear when he pursued Tanev what he's looking for, and he's willing to pay for it.

To answer your question of "In Staios we trust or nah", trust is earned. So far, he's done fine. He's not making rash moves to save his job or win over fans. He's taking his time to analyze what he has and what needs to be done. But until he hires a coach, goes through the draft and off season, he hasn't done enough to earn trust.

What makes you think they don't know that? If reports are true, they tried to trade for Ullmark.

Unfortunately, teams in Canada, especially rebuilding teams, have a hard time acquiring top, proven talent. Sens have drafted goalies, some showing good promise, but they still need time to develop.

But they know. The head coach has called out the goalies. The previous regime has mentioned goaltending in many occasions. Media covering the Sens mentions the poor goaltending a lot. The organization is aware.

You may not be aware, but it's just plain hard to acquire great goaltending. A goalie can have a good year and a bad one the next. The ones that do it consistently though, orgs don't usually let them get to FA or trade them.

How many different goalies with subpar numbers does it take for Ottawa to figure out the problem isn't the goalies but its the defensive play in front of them?

If Cam Talbot can go from a .898sv% last season with Ottawa to a .916sv% this season with LA, you can't keep saying that it's the player that's the issue

Too much for 30 year old Guentzal. Get a proper 22 man roster.
