For 4 x $5,000,000 Brett Pesce remains in Carolina.

Not even close for Leon Draisaitl, Boston doesn't have the pieces for Draisaitl without Pasta or McAvoy being involved.

Carolina won’t have 5 mill to give pesce post guentzel/ Jarvis/ Necas extensions unless they want to fill their bottom 6 and bottom pair on league minimums

Kotkaniemi is a very convenient buyout though

Either Pasta or McAvoy straight up is enough. Cornerstone piece for cornerstone piece is rarely the way these trades go though.

No, and they wouldn't, I was just making a point against the other who said Pasta or McAvoy "would need to be involved". There is no involvement, it would be 1 for 1. But there's no reason to do it when a package deal or free agency would be smarter.

I believe the wait to free agency risk is often overstated, but don’t believe e Draisaitl ever makes it. Also believe NMC’s kill most viable trade options and I question whether Boston can budget another top 5 paid player in the league from a cap perspective.

In the end, I believe this offseason will find us trading Ullmark and bringing in two premium free agents with Lindholm likely being one of them.

That's not nearly enough to get Edmonton to bite. It starts with McAvoy.

Draisaitl probably gets $12.5M, McDavid probably takes a discount again, just like he did last time.

Having two of the best players in the world is always going to be expensive, but it's worth it.

not sure about that, doesn't seem to make a stanley cup winner. Defense and depth is more important.

More important? Every team that has won the Cup has had star power. A team full of 2nd liners just isn't a winning formula.

yes, star power, but not 2 of the top 5 players with a huge ditch between them and the others. Is Toronto good in the playoffs? Has the Lightning been has good since they had to get rid of their depth? Does Vegas have dresaitl level superstars in their line up? they do have a very good D and 4 good lines.

That's a big ditch to 2nd highest goal scorer in the league. And to the 3rd highest scoring defenseman in the league. And the the second highest +/- player in the league. And to the goalie with the 3rd most wins in the league.

You clearly haven't been paying attention to the Oilers. They are much more than just McDavid and Draisaitl.

Their Defense and goalies are meh and they don't have success in the playoffs, so.

And yet they've allowed the 7th fewest goals in the league this season, fewer than Vegas, Colorado and Tampa - the past 4 Cup winners.

Define "success". They went to the 2nd and 3rd round the past 2 years and both times lost to the Cup winners.

Again, you clearly aren't paying attention.
