Why would Anaheim consider that when we've already got 3 better LHD on the roster, two of whom are younger than Broberg.

You're joking, right? A redundant LhD and two future late thirds for Frankie Vatrano?

Not nearly enough for Draisaitl, AND McLeod! It would start with one of McAvoy, or Pasternak, then they would add. They could maybe get around not giving one of them, but it will cost them a lot. Im talking Swayman, Poitras, Carlo+ imo.

I agree it's not enough, bur also the Bruins won't get rid of all their key pieces for Drai. Not when there's at least a chance they could get him in free agency. But a straight up package of Poitras, Frederick, Carlo, and 2 firsts is where I'd draw the line. It is very rare for a star for star trade to work out, and it takes having big pieces left over. That's why it worked out so well for Florida in the Huberdeau trade

Draisaitl has a NMC, the return wouldn’t be that steep.

He is a top 10 center man in the NHL. If we put him available right now, plenty teams would be offering a ridiculous amount. That’s not too much, if you want to get better.

Oh yes it will. Look at what Jack Eichel got. Doesn’t matter if he has a NMC, he is a top 10 centre in the NHL. If he wants out, he will let us know what teams, and we will trade him accordingly.

For sure! I’m assuming to get maximum value, there would be an extension in place too. It’s a lot to give, but for a top center man, I would think about it if I was the bruins. If they had a guy like Draisaitl on that top line, they would be lethal! Your package isn’t bad though, especially if we are still trying to compete, with how well Frederic has been doing.

go find a guy that got that much with one year left on the deal. i'll save you some time. your best bet is going to be erik karlsson, widely regarded as a top 5 d man at the time of trade (and you're selling Draisaitl short, probably a top 5 center).

Lets look at what he got:
Josh Norris - at the time of the trade a recent late first round pick who was doing okay - not great, but okay - in NCAA
Rudolfs Balcers - AHL scratch ticket. former 5th round pick, but not exactly a high end prospect
Chris Tierney - an okay middle six player
Dylan Demelo - an okay depth d man with NHL experience that had shown some flashes of upside.
1st round pick
2nd round pick.
I think there might have been some conditional picks in there as well, but I don't htink the conditions were met.

So what you're seeing is futures and some contracts to make the books look cleaner. You're not seeing a 25 year old goalie that's put up an elite performance for 3 years in the NHL. You're not seeing a young middle six winger that's stepping into a bigger role and is on the cusp of putting in a 20+ goal season with a very well rounded game, and you're not seeing a 50% retained top six two way center.

This kind of a trade just isn't a thing. Would Draisaitl get a haul of futures? absolutely. Would a competitive NHL team completely change their core roster for what could a rental? history shows is that this is not a concept that exists in the cap era.

Edmonton easily declines the first and second trades, Anaheim declines the third. None of them are even close to being realistic.

I’m not saying that teams won’t be offering a ton for him, but with the NMC, Edmonton can only get so much.

Jack Eichel didn’t have a NMC.
