Easy pass by the habs.

Trading josh and getting back a older longer term more expensive cap dump isnt the solution.

Atleast with josh worse case is he doesnt rebound next year and you buy him out.

Sean you banking on a guy whos been injured for several years and innefective since being back to the point your coach healthy scratches you while wearing the C.

Sean also has a full nmc until the last season so your screwed if you take him and he sucks still

Couturier despite the recent heathy scratches has still been very good this year apart from not being able to score goals. But he’s still elite defensively and a solid playmaker. Not worth his contract but still worth more than Anderson, who’s an awful player. He can skate fast and hit that’s about it

Ah yes a coach healthy scratches their captain because hes been great. He had a solid couple months but has been terrible since.

Betting on a player who will be 32 has 6 years left at almost a 8 million cap hit who might not make it to 40 points this year is objectively a stupid bet.

Between injuries and lack of production he hasnt been that guy in a long time. Even before missing a year and a hlaf he wasnt that guy he was a sub 50 point pace player in 21-22

It's light for Zegras even before you consider the addition of RyJos dead cap.

Would be adding Bonk at a minimum, and upgrading the first to Philly's.

I wouldn’t do the Couturier trade either, but let’s not use the healthy scratch as an excuse not to do it. If we were in a playoff race and Anderson was playing like this, he’d have been a healthy scratch plenty of times by now.

We fire Martin St Louis did we?
Change 1 Day 1 he stated the importance of Anderson to him in terms of basically being the top 6's Rodeo Clown calling him a strong Deterrent.
We used Lehkonen wrong who under Michel Therrien was the offensive player he was oversea's.
Then Claude Julien comes in basically condemning the whole team top to bottom outside Danault, Lehkonen and Gallagher.
Lehkonen becomes a Defensive player from that moment on until Martin St Louis arrives and he goes on a tear that ended with 9 points in 9 games to end his Habs career.

Anderson will be fine when MSL lets him go back to being a player instead of a Deterrent which can be accomplished by Hughes adding someone who handles that role like Mantha next summer.
Let Anderson start focusing on Anderson again then i think he gets out of his own way. But pulling him in 2-3 directions is bound to have a negative impact.

I LOVE Couturier as like Jake he still lives in our Province , gives back a LOT and is a HUGE supporter of Youth Hockey here where really only 2-3 NHL players are total.
BUT that Contracts too much ,its worse then Hayes and how did that work out ?
Anderson i could move for a Profit now by exploiting the System but for Couturier i couldnt do the same without taking back a really big contract.
He's in the Huberdeau or Skinner zone where despite being NHL players of value their Contract makes them beyond untouchable to any teams due to their Contract Control.

The teams that would be willing to take them arent of any interest to them

Its not hard in this situation.

When looking at joshs underlying numbers he should realistically have twice as many goals as he currebtly has or more.

Hes played 69 games this year which was the same number as the last 2 seasons and despite scoring 6 goals 5 on 5 (compared to 14 and 15 the previous years) his ixG has only dropped from 13.91 to 12.44 which you can mostly chalk up to a slightly reduced icetime.

Creation isnt the problem its been the conversion that has been. Some shooting work over the summer and he could pretty easily be back to that 20 goal+ pace hes been for most of his career.

Couturier is older has a major injury and carries a lot more risk in money and term

Sorry, that’s just way too high a price for Zegras.

That's your opinion, and your entitled to it, but OP put him at 1C, he knows Zegras is a star player, and they don't come cheap.
