Would it make more sense to resign Guentzel and trade Fast for picks? I’ve been under the impression that you’d try to trade KK before Fast.

Are you using the first to pay for the amount PLD is overpaid?

Jarvis, Necas and Guentzel all taking discounts to stay in Carolina would be surprising to see.

None of them are getting discounts, Jarvis won't get more on a bridge deal, and that's about market value for the other two

It makes more sense to dump Staal than KK

Horrible for LA.

He’s not getting traded.

I know you guys trading for him really want him on your team but it’s not happening

Iv been repeatedly told by people on this site that Guentzel is a 9+ guy on the market and you yourself consider Necas better than Caufield so I don't see why he takes less on the same term, Carolina tax situation will help, don't know about that much though.

A bridge contract for Jarvis will be interesting to see since players like him have been taking those big 8x8 deals lately and less bridge contracts have been signed lately. With him though I think he looks at KK and says he wants significantly more than him, even if it's only over two years. We'll see though

Guentzel might make 9+ in a higher tax market, but that's going to be a lower cap hit in Carolina. Necas is better than Caufield, but the same logic applies. A 7 mil cap hit in Carolina will see him take home more than Caufield does. It's a significant factor in things like this. Look at Aho, he should have got 11+ based on the market, but will be less than 10 because, mostly, he'll take home more per year than McDavid does.

No way you really think the canes would dump the team captain before a $5 million healthy scratch LMAO

What does Staal being the captain have to do with anything? Aho should be the captain anyway. Get rid of Staal, make Aho captain, and get a new coach in that can manage a roster with this much talent, because Rod cannot. This isn't even about Kotkaniemi, Jordan Martinook started on the second line yesterday for christ sake

I think you are over estimating the tax advantage in Carolina. It's a little better then league average. Necas would need 8.5 million to take home roughly the same amount as Caufield.

I think your math is off... Carolina's tax bracket is among the lowest non-0 markets in the league. He needs about 7 million to take home what Caufield does after tax

According to cap friendlys income tax calculator Caufield brings home 4.675 million a year. A player getting 7 million in Carolina would bring home 3.8 million. 8.5 million in Carolina is 4.672 so just slightly less then Caufield.

You’re banking on players taking a lot of discounts
