the sens are giving up the 2 (maybe 3) most valuable pieces in that trade

TOR needs a goaltender, Jarry would fit well ; Rakell would slot nicely on the 1st or 2nd right/left wing; Jospeh is coming into his own and will be a loss for the Pens ; plus a 1st rounder - Marner probably doesn't financially fit into the Leafs cap structure in the 2025-26 season, given Marner's full NMC he would have to waive but I imagine he wouldn't mind playing with Crosby

Two iffy long term contracts contracts in Jarry and Rakell. Leafs like the trade better if Jarry and Rakell were excluded so they could spend 10,3m better...much better.
Same with the Sens, Graves contract isn't that attractive.

OTT needs a veteran presence, Acciari & Smith will provide that ; Graves is a good player, just not a fit on the Pens

Sure... But Tkachuk and Eichel were in the same situations... And the package you are offering isn't as good as either one...

And Toronto doesn't need Jarry at 5 mill...

I think Toronto would target younger player/prospects/picks in a Marner deal... Unless it's for a star(s)

There are better goalies on the UFA market better value than 5.3m Jarry long term. Rakell is not a top six player on most good teams, and is aging, declining and has too much cap.

JT contract coming off the books at same time as Marner’s theoretical extension; plus cap should be going up another $4-5M. Leafs can fit Marner into cap; whether they come to agreement on a contract 🤷🏻 but i don’t see him waiving, or Leafs trading him. Certainly not for this uninspiring return

Both trades are heavily tilted towards Pittsburgh.

Acciari doesnt move the needle, especially not at 2m when youre also trying to move Smith at 5m. No one is touching that contract without retention after the year he's had. Graves would have no place in the top4 for Ottawa given that he would slot behind Sanderson and Chabot.

All three of those things wouldnt get you Chychrun so a 3rd and Branny on top of that is definitely out of the question.
