Flames won't accept those conditions if they are retaining that much

Yes sir! I would accept that if I was Edmonton. Draft a guy with that pick, trade up, or trade it to upgrade the team. I don’t see Broberg really amounting to anything with the Oilers.

Have a great one!

I think one of Broberg or Bahl could be quality 3rd pairing hopefully. Would be relying on a siegs/Marino bounce back and Luke+Nemec development, which frankly they should certainly all be better next year.

Ideally I'd love to find a way to get Trenin as you know.

Not sure Stamkos would sign that but could be a steal

If I were the Blues I would accept that in a heartbeat and draft Silayev.

Agreed. There is no way the blues would ever let that deal get past them

Fairly certain you've got yourself a deal, provided they can't trade up higher for Dickinson.

They shouldn't accept that from NJ even without any retention. Lowball city.

With a lack of impact goalies available, can’t see the Flames retaining 50% for 3 years for a ‘25 2nd (late) + ‘26 3rd + ECHL goalie 🤯.
Markstrom was the Flames MVP this past year; preposterous proposal.

It is possible to have a sub .900 sv put and still be playing quite well. Binnington last season, for instance. I'm not saying he should fetch your 24 1st, but you guys have a surplus of solid youngsters and won't have room for all of them.

7th in goals saved above expected; 13th in goals saved above expected per 60 (min 20 games played). This proposal and your response begs two questions:
1/ what is the Flames motivation to trade their starter and MVP, while also retaining max allowed for 3 years? The return is thoroughly underwhelming
2/ why would Devils trade for a sub 0.900 goalie over past 2 years?

There is plenty of room for everyone. The surplus was moved out in the Meier trade.

Jordan Binnington would also return very little in a trade. (and no, he was not good at all last year)

Markstrom 13th in GSAx/60 while having the 4th biggest contract this year? seems like he's not living up to his money

Muh huh. Binnington was very good last season as Markstrom has been this season, you should watch more hockey. Reading stats is not a substitute, man.

Jordan Binnington has had a very good year this year. He did not have a good year last year. At all.

But sure, the basic stats, the advanced stats, the eye test from everyone else, the general consensus, it’s all wrong.

Jordan Binnington and his 0.894 was actually a fantastic season.

What eye test and general consensus exactly? The eye test and general consensus in STL media was that he was friggin heroic and he should sue the team defense for non support. The general consensus, including national media, was that the Blues were constantly shooting themselves in the foot with D zone turnovers and odd mans against, and especially that back door tap ins were allowed left and right. And that's before we even get to the THIRTY goals Blues players put psst Binnington with gloves, sticks, skates, and even once a face. That's literally a half goal per game scored by his own teammates.

I mean, my whole point is stats don't tell you everything, and you go back to a stat, and one where he was a hair below league average despite the wanton carnage in front of him.

Same goes for Markstrom this season (except the own goals, I have no idea if that was any factor).

Markstrom has actually had a good season this year. He was excellent to start the year. However he has **** the bed since the peak of trade talks, sporting a 0.875 since then. He was not good last year

Binnington is having an excellent year. He was not good last year or the year before.
