Assuming they don't win the lottery I would bet good money on them landing one of Parekh or Buium. I'd imagine the other 3 will be gone as Iginla is quickly shooting up the rankings

The 4 guys I named are my bet for 5-8 range. I don’t want Buium.

What's not to like about Buium? Above a point per game as a freshman defenseman on a team with championship hopes, a lot to like about his game

Sens have enough LD. They are missing a top flight RD.

The more I watch Ottawa play the past month I am now of the belief that Ottawa needs to find a taker for Chabot and keep Chychrun, if he is really intent on re-signing.
The return on 72 will not be great but it is what it is. Get Chychrun a good stay at home RD partner and I think he will excel next year.

Last thing the Sens need is a player to drive offence from the left side of the D. Even if they move Chabot and Chychrun we still have no one for Buium to play with.

RD is a much bigger need. However if we do take Dickinson, he’s the only exception I’d make for a LD because he’s very similar to Sanderson , so any kind of RD would work with him, defensive , 2 way or offensive.

Buium would need for the Sens to somehow get another Zub or someone like Carlo to play with which are usually almost impossible to find

Yeah I mean I agree Parekh would be ideal but I feel it would be silly to take a lesser prospect just because you already have sanderson. Buium may not be as flashy offensively but he's excelled against older competition at both the college and world junior level. Correct me if im wrong but it seems like the consensus among Sens fans is that Chabot is on the chopping block as well, which also gave into the thinking there

Yeah but it’s a lot easier to find a 2nd pair LD behind Sanderson outside of the organization than it is to find a good top pair RD or even 2nd pair RD.

Draft RD and figure it out after .

Only draft a LD if he’s very likely to be as good as Sanderson or insane if even better

Yes but Chychrun would probably get a better return so it would make sense to move on from him over Chabot

I understand the thinking. I'm personally more of a "draft the best player available" kinda guy because the draft and developing players in general is always such a crapshoot, but I suppose for markets that don't always attract big name FA's, you kind of have to go that route.

It’s not even that but good RDs are rarely moved because of how rare they are. Only way to get one is through the draft.

I would give up all my organs for McAvoy on the Sens

That's probably the consensus among spectators, but front offices have their differences, and I wouldn't be surprised if Buium has some fans in high places, especially if Denver can go all the way.

I agree with this just not as high on Silayev and Helenius. I like Helenius but he’s lower paced and his offensive ceiling might only be a 2nd liner . Also I’m meh on Buium

i dont think OTT will make any major trades this off season, chabot is always injured so chych is a must keep and OTT dont have the assets they would be willing to move for a young top 4 RD

Bonehead Brad in Toronto would probably take Chabot off your hands but if Chychrun is for sale talk to Brad's replacement in Calgary.

Sure we do... If he comes with an extension or an agreement to sign one soon after the trade. He'd be perfect to pair with Andersson or Weegar at RD.

But the only thing is if we keep Chabot he's only going to play half the season, plus Chychryn is better.

Silayev is definitely better than Parekh in my opinion. The only 2 things are that he's a LD so the Sens aren't in need of his position as much, and he's russian, so he likely won't even come to NA for a few years, not to mention the Sens would have no control over his development.
