And you're going to be stuck with that Huberdeau contract for a while. Luckily with the cap going up it'll be easier to trade him but you will have to take back a good amount of salary since that contract is also buyout proof

Yeah, not happening on Chicago or Calgary end! A 1st rounder and 2 picks is too much; and Chicago is just now seeing Reichel comfortable carrying the puck, digging, forechecking, backchecking, to show he can play in this league. It will need to carry over to next year and translate into points. Playing with better lines in the future could lift him as well. One more year to see him improve at least in Chicago.

Forgot to mention in my first post
1. Dumping Huberdeau is impossible, nobody is taking that contract off us, especially without us taking back equally as significant cap.
2. Even if we did manage to dump Huberdeau like this the projected cap floor for next season is 64.75M and the roster limit is 23 player per team, so even though you sit above the cap floor by 140k right now you would have to place at least 2 contracts in the minors and that would make the team illegal.

If we are trying to bring back a famous family name to the city then I would rather we just draft Iginla this summer

Montreal is not interested in Huberdeau and his 10 million + contract. The last two season Huberdeau has been underwhelming 50 points at his price tag is not good enough.

But he's a francophone. Thought that was Montreal's biggest requirement.
