If Landy doesnt come back

Description
Moving Colton allows us to bring back most of the gang. It's sounding like Duhaime might get re-signed. The bottom pair is pretty weak. But it's not the WORST pairing. Let me know if I'm off on my signings or anything. Thanks!

What’s going wrong with Colton in COL? Seems like the perfect third liner

I like Colton, don't get me wrong. I just think If we want Drouin, Trenin, Duhaime and Middlestadt (even though he's RFA) all back, he's the odd man out. 4 mill for a 3C is also a bit pricey. Maybe LOC could be moved as well. But I don't think he will.

you forgot the 4 mil that comes with the cap increase. I think we'd be downgrading in skill by moving colton for trenin at 3C as well. I'm starting to like trenins physicality but he's never got more than 25 points in a season. I think we'd need a bit more consistent scoring if we're moving colton for a new 3C.

I think 2 3rd round picks is quite low for Colton. They should be able to get more for him. We paid a second for his rights with arbitration lurking. He’s now signed on a reasonable deal for multiple years. He is having one of the best seasons of his career at center which is inherently worth more to teams than wingers.
I might be delusional but I don’t think the Avs accept anything less than a 2rd plus something.

There’s no way they trade LOC. They love him and he’s below market value.

On whoops I did! Yeah I do like Trenin too. It'd be nice if we could keep everyone, but a few will be gone. Trenin probably wouldn't be able to put up the same numbers as Colton, but man that line would suck to play against.

Hmm yeah, I didn't want to come across as biased haha. They probably could get more for Colton for sure. It'll be interesting to see what they do. Thanks for the feedback.

I’m happy to be a little biased as long as I can back it up with some facts.😀
I think you are on to something with this team. I would love to sign Drouin however you have shown he would have to take a massive discount to fit under the cap. I don’t think we can make it work for more than 3.2m. There has to be at least one scratch.

With a 4m cap increase I think we would keep Colton.
I also agree that Trenin profiles as a good 4th line player not a 3c. I like him but not at 2.5m.

I just don't see you guys getting by on that goaltending, Georgiev looks absolutely cooked out there lately. A post season run and another 60+ workload next year and you'll run him completely into the ground.

Trenin and Drouin are maybe a touch high here contract-wise (about 500k each imo, maybe 1 mil in Drouin's case, which amounts to a healthy scratch or cheap D better than Jones). Change one of the 3rds to a 2nd in the Colton trade and I think you'd be on the money there value-wise. I doubt Mitts does 8 x 6mil. I could honestly see him doing a 4 year deal to try to bank on himself getting one more higher deal at 29 with the cap going up. As others have mentioned there's the extra 4 mil cap to play with as well which might make moving Colton unnecessary in this scenario. I also doubt they trade Colton to the Preds to face him on a regular basis.
