not enough value for Chychrun there, and that Marchment deal is bad. I think Dallas wants to move on from him no need to send a first and a 3rd pairing D man

If Edmonton trades Kulak, it'll be for cap space and roster space to play Broberg. They won't be adding another LHD.

Oh man I think we do this, the odds of Broberg being better than Chychrun right now is pretty low. Chychrun can also play both sides meaning we can match him with Nurse. I'd love for it to be Ceci going the other way instead but this is great value for Edmonton, it would solidify our top-4 and open our window with us still being able to play Broberg on the bottom pair

Chychrun isn't very good defensively and he's worse playing on the right side. Of course he's likely better than Broberg, but I'm not paying $4M+ for a 3rd pairing LHD, which is what Chychrun would be in Edmonton.

Knoblauch likes to keep lefties on the left and righties on the right. It's just not a good target for Edmonton.

I'd agree maybe he's not the best target but the value is too good to be true in this trade. Edmonton's d-core thrives off of possession, we've seen Bouchard elevate his game to new heights this year due to high possession numbers. I think there's a scenario where Chychrun plays well on the right side due to being on a much better team and having more opportunities to focus on his defensive game. It's not worth the risk if we have to give up a 1st + one of Bourgault/ Holloway/ Broberg but I'd do this for the trade proposed 100%

Sens decline all of those trades, especially the Edmonton one. Not even close to getting Chychryn there.

Stars shouldn’t have any issues with the cap this offseason. Pretty sure I read Pavs is calling it after this season. Harley is a RFA and will hopefully either bridge or take a one year deal til Benn, Lindell, Suter, Faksa, etc come off the books next year. The cap is going up. I think Nill signs Harley, Duchene, and Tanev and calls it a day. Obviously that’s assuming Duchene and Tanev are interested in staying
