When those 5 untouchables all have more value than Brady Tkachuk you do.

I was going off of alwaysnextyear comment (below).

This is a team that desperately wants to make the jump to being a playoff contender. They have good young pieces and players entering their prime that should keep them relevant for a while if they can level up. If they do consider trading Brady (and I'm not sure why they would unless he's asking out), I think it will definitely be for a comparable player or package of players that will help the Sens win-now.

I see that, but to me there is no win-now trade that involves Tkachuk. Hes going to be the best player in the deal pretty much no matter what. Unless youre looking at like Hamilton + Mercer then maybe theres an avenue there, but even then I dont know that Mercer does enough for the Sens to go from 25 year old Tkachuk on a good deal to 31 year old Hamilton on a big deal until hes realisitcally over the hump. Like if anyone is making a win now deal between these 2 teams centered around Tkachuk its the devils

Marino is a good #3 dman who’s great defensively and could play top pair if he’s paired with an offensive guy (Quinn Hughes for example). Yes he’s had a down year this year but is still a good player

The 1st next year matches the Vegas 1st they traded (which ended up being earlier than expected at the time of the trade because they missed the playoffs)

Holtz could be upgraded to a better piece but it’s not far off the Eichel return. And Eichel is a better player as well as a center, which cancels out most if not all of the negative value his neck injury added into the deal

Sens passed on trading for Marino with Ryan Bowness as an AGM who knew exactly who he was since he was in the Pens management

Sanderson at 20 last year was less sheltered than Nemec is now

Nemec has been playing as our top dman. He isn’t sheltered at all.

I don’t want to trade him to the Devils. They have no good assets the Sens need besides Hischier or Nemec or Jack Hughes

you don’t trade for Brady and not give up a piece you don’t want to move

Casey is ass . He’s a 5’9 offensive D. Good luck with that at the nhl level

      Quinn Hughes is 5’10
      Cale Makar is 5’11
      Adam Fox is 5’11

That’s the 3 best defensemen in the league and all are 1-2 inches taller than Casey

You see it as production .

GM see it as a rare power forward type that is still young and is one of the best players on the Sens and a leader

Why is it that it’s always players that are soft with high production that become available for power forwards lol

Speaking of which, maybe the Sens should move #soft Tim Stutzle for Anderson! More #hits and #size and #grit

Maybe a hot take but to me Nemec is 100% expendable in a Tkachuk-type trade. Its probably a lot closer to a 1 for 1 than anyone wants to admit but the devils have the depth and youth outside of Nemec at RD to compensate for losing him for Tkachuk. I cant put a package together in my head that makes any sense fot Ottawa other than that

Speaking of the habs, honestly if I'm gonna offer a massive package for a basement dwelling canadian teams captain I think I'd rather go after Suzuki.

      Center, better contract, better defensively.

Meier was a rental . Brady has term. Again Brady’s value is more like Debrincat from Chicago with more term

Yeah but Calgary didnt take that deal so its a moot point.

Calgary was still trying to extend Tkachuk at that point. It wasn't Nemec specifically but the number 2 overall pick.

The deal was then taken off the table by NJD after the draft

NJD got Meier for 9 years. Sounds like plenty of term to me.

I agree, Debrincat from chicago is another comp.

      NJD 2024 1st+NJD 2025 1st+NJD 2025 2nd.

      I've upgraded the 3rd into a 1st.

Casey is roughly same size as those guys.

And like those guys, his skating is elite, which can make up for smaller frame. He is solid on his skates.

But the idea of Casey as offense-only dman is an uninformed view. His defense is solid…was statistically one of best defensive dmen in NCAA this year. And was primarily deployed as defensive dman at world juniors (pk, up-a-goal situations, etc).

There is always risks with any prospects, especially smaller ones, but Famous Seamus has plenty of two-way ability.

It would only make sense in the unfortunate and unlikely scenario that Jack moves to wing full time for injury reasons.

Suzuki is excellent defensively tho. He's looked to have developed into 95% of Nico

I think when people see a dman is smaller and/or puts up a lot of points they just assume he’s offense only. There are still quite a lot of people (mostly on twitter) who still see Hughes as an offense only dman who’s bad defensively, when in reality his defensive game has been very good for 3 seasons now, and elite this year
