I've done some thought about it and Huberdeau might be as much of a negative asset as the biggest stars are positive assets.

Would you take 7 years of Huberdeau at 10.5 mill to get 2 years of McDavid at 12.5 mill?? I'm not sure I would.

Are matthews+Huberdeau worth 24 mill combined over the next 4 years+ worth taking on the last 3 years of huberdeau's deal? I'm not sure.

Uhhhhh. Montreal doesn’t do that. Other than Huberdeau being French, doesn’t make sense for Montreal to give up two 1st to take on that contract.

I would take McDavid but not Matthews. McDavid is worth 23m. Matthews maybe not. More like 17-18m

Jonathan Drouin is a biggest Quebec star than Huberdeau.

For the short term true. But it's only 2 years of McDavid. then you're stuck with the nexr 5 years of huberdeau who's only gonna get worse and worse

Come on. Drouin over Huberdeau? I mean, Drouin just cannot play under pressure. I am glad he turned things around and wish him the best of luck going forward, but no GM and it's right mind would equate him and Huberdeau. The latter had a bad start... on a team that wasn't built the right way. And yes, he is overpaid. Huberdeau is just better, there is no denying it.

That said, I am not sure I would trade for him given where we are with the rebuild.

Oh! That's the way it works. Gee, let's fire all pro scouts and look only at last season's point total to evaluate players...

By that metric, you'd gladly accept a Caufield 1:1 trade for Ryan O'Reilly? Or Travis Konecny? I would not.

I wouldn't even do Anderson vs Huberdeau one on one as Huberdeau contract is so much money for 4 more years.
