I assume the sabres will try to trade Jokiharju for a 3C but if they strike out with him as a trade piece im all for something like this. Idk why STL would do it, underlying numbers are pretty solid and he has a sweet cap hit.

It’s not a bad offer for Jokiharju,
but the Sabres are looking to win now, so idk that they’d do a deal like this

3C you say? May we interest you in a Kevin Hayes?

I doubt it
Maybe for a “good” 3C though

probably could, I think the larger issue is could you convince Hayes to waive. Id guess no but you never know.

Idk, Stenberg is a good prospect, and he's a center. I would be hard pressed not to take it

Maybe if you retain half the money. But probably not.

Personally, I'd take the deal. Those pieces are a better fit (age-wise) for the next core. We also don't know what Sharangovich is going to demand for his next contract, or if he wants to be a part of a retool.

Moreover, CGY has a lot of wingers, and there will be quite a few wingers available free agency. I'd take a long look at overpaying one of: Arvidsson, Duclair, Marchasault, Tarasenko, Kane, Duchene, or Toffoli on a 2-3 year contract to replace Yegor.

Stenberg is a pretty strong prospect, but I would imagine he is an NHL winger. I believe that is primarily what he has played recently in the SHL/ HockeyAllskevanen
