Willingly going from Demko to two of the worst mainstream goalie options the NHL has to offer is certainly a choice

Listen, two things can be true:

    - The trade can have fair value

    - The trade makes absolutely no sense from an organizational or roster standpoint

Hell no, because it makes the team significantly worse on aggregate, even if the value might be there.

The San Jose trade isn’t crazy, I personally would really consider it.

Wrong. Incredibly fair value trade that fits Ottawa’s biggest needs.

Foresberg has an excellent track record the three years prior to this one. Worse than Demko? Yes for sure.

But still easily a good enough goalie for this team to compete for first in the pacific again. It’s not like LA or Edmonton or VGK or Colorado have elite goaltending but all of them are basically 100 point teams.

Vans biggest strength is defense. They need to add more offense to the team and this is the best way to do it

This would be the best top 9 forward group the team has possibly ever rolled out, even going back to the Sedin era teams

Yes, you're right, it would be.

But having the best top 9 forward group is definitely not what wins you games or championships.

That goaltending will sink any team, and that defense is below average too. This is a team that loses games 6-4 regularly.

rofl, Demko and Hronek not worth Brady jock strap, Demko barely worth a 1st and hronek not worth the diference in value, try adding VAN 2 best prospects and a first

Imagine thinking a top 5 goalie making only 5M is barely worth a 1st

Also imagine thinking a fringe PPG winger who’s bad at defense is worth a top 5 goalie, a top pair RHD, 2 top prospects, and a 1st lmao. Sens fans are crazy

    Demko at 5v5
    20/21: .925 SV%, 6.67 GSAA, 7.89 GSAx
    21/22: .933 SV% (3rd best), 26.42 GSAA (1st), 19.81 GSAx (3rd)
    22/23: .920 SV%, 4.43 GSAA, 7.14 GSAx
    22/23: after return from injury: .930 SV%, 7.72 GSAA, 8.22 GSAx
    23/24: .922 SV%, 8.8 GSAA, 13.37 GSAx

    Demko in All Situations
    20/21: .915 SV%, 8.03 GSAA, 8.7 GSAx
    21/22: .915 SV%, 15.01 GSAA, 7.3 GSAx
    22/23 When Healthy: .918 SV%, -1.92 GSAA, 9.86 GSAx
    23/24: .917 SV%, 16.64 GSAA (3rd), 24.79 GSAx (4th)

He’s probably gonna finish top 3 for the Vezina this year and has been great-elite as a starter apart from the 15 games he played injured at the start of last year

If you think Demko is an average goalie that’s like saying Brady is an average-below average LW

This Dcore is a significant upgrade from the current year dcore

    Hronek > Tanev
    Myers > Juulsen
    Cole > Maatta

Pesce > Zadorov, but not as much as historically. Pesce has had a pretty pedestrian season as he approaches 30.

Im sure you disagree with some of these, but I don't see it as an upgrade at all.
