Zegras isn't worth 5th overall alone

We don't want KK back, and the 2nd wouldn't cover the cost of MTL taking on that contract let alone including Matheson.

It's a bad deal for Montreal obviously, but if Carolina moves Kotkaniemi it will be for cap relief, so taking back a contract that is more expensive - even for the better player - doesn't make sense. This is especially true for a LHD - Matheson would be 3rd on the depth chart behind Slavin and Orlov.

You've been wrong before, you're wrong now, and you'll continue to be wrong, Zegras is clearly better than anyone available at 5OA this year, and that's on a ceiling to ceiling comparison, saying nothing of the fact that Zegras is a known NHL top 6 entity and the draft pick is for a prospect that can bust.
