We'll call that Laine trade a "maybe". The Wings are doing well enough that I'm not sure if the two 1sts are going to be attractive enough, but it's a fair effort, despite the noise of throwing in bodies like Veleno and Johansson.

Yep you're dreaming if you think the Avs can add Husso's cap hit!

laugh laugh On the Patrik Laine trade, He's missed close to 145 games in the past 6 years. he's not worth even a fraction of that offer. He misses on average close to 1/2 of the season. No thanks.

And your Raymond and Seider deals are at least $1,000,000 short on both players.

You'd think that a player with a cap hit of 7M, hasn't played a full season in like 4 seasons, and is extremely inconsistent wouldn't cost so much!

Extremely inconsistent? He's been pretty consistently PPG or near-PPG in union blue. The injuries issue is a valid one, though.

Basically, it doesn't do the Jackets any good to trade him unless we're getting back a package commesurate with that of a near-PPG top-line scoring winger, because that seems the most likely outcome for him post-PAP and we don't have a pressing need to otherwise remove his cap hit. End result: he probably won't be traded at all, because it'd be silly for others to pay that kind of price given the risks involved.

Since becoming a Blue Jacket:
.467 PPG, 45 Games
1.00 PPG, 56 Games
.945 PPG, 55 Games
.500 PPG, 18 Games

Unless Laine was planning on scoring at a rate of like 1.5 PPG before his injury/health issues this season, I think he can be considered inconsistent.
Whether it be as a result of injury issues or something else, his value still takes a hit.

Regardless, I agree with the sentiment that he's not getting moved; no team'll want to pay what the Jackets want for him.

That last was due to injury; he tried to come back too quickly.

Reasoning doesn't particularly matter in this league, sadly

In terms of trade value, true. My point is just that he doesn't have inconsistency and injury problems, he just has injury problems. (Most of which were freaky flukes, but it's not unreasonable for folks to hesitate at that regardless.)
