Los Angeles won't be giving up Portillo on the way back in a Swayman trade, and won't be trading Brandt Clarke at all.

I would generally agree, but if they trade for Swayman, he's the goalie of the future, and Portillo is expendable. I would agree about Clarke, but the Kings need to move one of him or Spence, and Swayman wouldn't be moved for just anything. I don't know that he's as off limits as he was a year ago.

Might be what it takes to get Swayman as I understand Boston wants to extend him and trade Ullmark instead, but I wouldn't do that if I were Blake.

this would get a bigger laugh from boston - if comedy is what you're looking for, yes, it's better.

Brandt Clarke is even more off limits now than he was a year ago. Spence is available, but as you say, he's not as much of a prize.

Also, what makes you think you're going to get Matt Roy to sign for 2 years @ $3.5M? For that term, double that AAV.

This trade makes no sense for either team.

Clarke is lucky to be the third line RD for Boston and it’s not a weakness. Portillo is a decent goalie prospect, but basically around what we have in the minors now, Kailiyev is not a fit with what Montgomery does.

laugh laugh Neither Roy or Swayman are signing those jokes of a contract.

Matt Roy gets at least 5 x $5,500,000.

And Swayman at least 5 x $6,500,000, I just love how people think that players are taking cheap contracts in high tax California. shakes head

He's an RFA in a league where no one uses offer sheets. He only has so much leverage.

He's also played just 3 seasons in the league, never playing more than 44 games yet. Yes, he has potential to be the clear cut #1, but he hasn't proven that yet, and, as stated, is still an RFA. Saros signed his 3rd deal with more experience, better stats, and an arbitration filing and got 5 million for 4 years. I think you're overestimating what Swayman will get from the Bruins or any other team.

This is his 3rd contract after taking a one year deal, Sorry he has ARB rights and put up some impressive numbers. he's getting far more than a lousy $750,000 raise especially in high tax California.
