Kings back to the throne

Created by: Robinho3799
Team: 2024-25 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 16, 2024
Published: Apr. 24, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The thoughts are the following:

- The Kings need to re-sign Byfield (probably to a 3 year bridge deal due to cap space reasons)
- Matt Roy won't be re-signed and will probably sign in his hometown with Detroit, maybe TOR or another team from the East
- The Kings should sign a decent winger to skate with PLD in a retention deal, to make the cap space work out (Kuznetsov 3 team trade)
- Kaliyev needs a change of scenery and could get going for example with the Devils (late 2nd or early 3rd round pick in return)
- I heard from CHI fans, that they're looking for a center (if not CHI, maybe BOS is an option, as they want another center)
- The Kings should re-sign Lizotte, Thomas and ****emo, who could be an ideal 4th line
- Jordan Spence is having a solid season and should be re-signed
- Brandt Clarke is ready for his first full NHL season and needs to close the gap with Spence with regards to Matt Roy leaving
- Rittich should be re-signed after a phenomenal season with great stats and good games
- Hopefully, a tandem Nedeljkovic/Rittich can give the Kings solid goaltending for a full season
- MacDermid returns and could complete the 11-7 formation any time it's needed
- Bellemare can jump in in case of injury etc. and provide the 4th line with experience and grit

Canes would just take a pick at that point. Neither if those guys are real roster threats

Which pick would be realistic in your opinion?
Maybe Grundstrom and Laferriere are no roster threats but they are cheap options the Canes may need to get a decent roster with players like Jarvis, Necas, Teravainen and half of the defense being Free Agents and being in need of new deals

AK is not worth a 2nd, or really right now an early 3rd on just the "buy for potential" argument. Devils pass.

A middle round pick, nothing crazy, is the value. It’ll be a decision to see if that is worth it for us

I believe your assessment of Turcotte's value is way off. On top of that I don't believe Chicago would have any interest in him. Especially at that price.

Hawks could use a future 2C but turcotte hasn't shown he's capable of being that guy. He's also pretty small and the hawks desperately need some more size in their forward group. If this is the price of turcotte the hawks will look elsewhere.

I would do a late 3rd for Turcotte if I was desperate at center for my farm system, but I can't see buying much more because he was a high pick....you buy the player they are now, not what a team thought they'd be. If LAK didn't develop him right, it shouldn't be up to another team to pay for the opportunity to do what they couldn't.

Hawks do need an NHL caliber middle 6 C. But Turcotte has done nothing yet to show he can be that player. He's just another roll of the dice at this point. Definitely not worth pick #34 in the draft. Easy pass for the Hawks.
