Reloading for next year

Created by: lcsman7798

Description
Florida is 100% beating this team in 5-6 games. They won't get swept, but this series is over. Let's "reload for next year" lol.

Don't focus too much on the specific picks involved in dumping Sheary and Jeannot. All that matters is that they're gone.

It's hard to predict what Stamkos will sign for, but if he's serious about sticking around, he needs to take a discount. Duclair has been great for this team and they should try to retain him as well.

Mitchell Chaffee has been awesome and it would be a huge mistake to let him walk.

The Lightning need more depth scoring in the Bottom 6. Kubalik had a bad year in Ottawa, but he could be a solid reclamation project. Play on the third line and let Paul/Eyssimont handle the forechecking/defense. He just needs to give them juice on offense.

They also need to fix their defense in the worst way. I know that Sergachev will be back, but it was terrible even before he broke his leg. If they're serious about winning another Cup (somehow), they need to make some changes and can't rely on Perbix/Lilleberg/Crozier developing.

Is this a Cup team? Probably not, but this is the reality when you trade all your picks and don't get really lucky on the picks you do keep. Hopefully Dylan Duke can pay dividends early in his career.

Was it worth it? 100%, but the run is likely over for now.

So instead of working on our own reclamation project the GM absolutely loves, we take someone else's and pay someone to take ours ? Makes a lot of sense I guess ( not really)? Stamkos will sign in the 6-6.5 range in TB. He realizes cap is tight and wants the ring more.Duke probably in the 3.5 and with the savings I mentioned makes up the difference Jeannot and Kubalik. Back to Kubalik if you have to expect him not to play defense to be somewhat productive he won't be playing much for Jon Cooper.

Yeah on board with this take exactly. Plus moving Jeannot won't look good for us considering the ransom we paid, but every GM misses at least once. Not sure sacrificing him for Kubalik would be much better, the dude just needs to stay healthy.

Jeannot has had God awful luck with injuries since being acquired.

Absolutely snake bitten since that meaningless Islanders game before the Leafs series, super tough loss. I genuinely feel bad for the guy and I'm more than willing to give him another chance in the squad, end of the day if we keep him either hope he finally gets back to his potential and gets close to 20 goals or use him as bait for a team needing a bottom 6 grinder at the deadline to gather some assets. If he doesn't get healthy, well new deadline LTIR candidate just dropped I guess.

He gets healthy he's not "a 4th liner. He's been horribly unlucky with injuries since TB acquired him. Healthy he's a middle 6 guy as I said when he was when he put up 25 for Nashvile. Is he the 21% shooter in Nashville? No. When healthy is he the guy we've seen in TB? No he's somewhere in the middle.

He’s got two seasons that he would average 20 points in an 82 games season. Other than shooting at an astronomically high shooting percentage in 1 season he quite literally is just a 4th liner. It’s okay to say Tampa got fleeced, they won their cups so who really cares. I wouldn’t mind getting fleeced if the Flyers won a cup. But he’s already 27 it’s not like he’s going to get massively better in his late 20’s early 30’s. He’s not a middle 6 guy he’s a 3rd liner at absolute best but he’s realistically just a guy.

Even when he's been playing he's been much less than 100%. If he gets healthy why not ? Alex Killorn had his best 3 seasons at 31,32,33

Yeah obviously anything can happen but me saying he’s a 4th liner is incredibly more likely than saying he could possibly play on a 2nd line.

When he has been healthy 24 goal year in Smashville couple weeks early on this year playing on a 2 nd line he was productive. I think his biggest setback has been injuries

He was shooting 21% which is ridiculous and completely unsustainable lol.

I agreed then and now however I feel he's not a 5% shooter either healthy an 11-14 range healthy is attainable .

I think Tampa could still get a late round pick for him, but if they had to pay a mid to late pick, so be it. If they want to improve for next year at all, they need to move his 2.65 out so they can use it for re-signings/ufa adds that will actually contribute. I'm sure they won't because JBB won't admit he made a very bad trade, but they 100% need to clear his cap.
