Trades

STL
  1. Liljegren, Timothy [RFA Rights]
  2. Marner, Mitchell
Additional Details:
Blues get a younger replacement to Parayko for the longterm future and they also get a true superstar
TOR
  1. Buchnevich, Pavel ($2,900,000 retained)
  2. Parayko, Colton
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Buch comes with an 8 year 7.5m deal

Leafs attain a good top 6 player who can play with one of either Matthews or Tavares plus a great top 4 shutdown D-man in Parayko. 2nd is added as sweetender to make Leafs bite on this
2.
STL
  1. Östlund, Noah
  2. 2026 1st round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Lottery protected
BUF
  1. Schenn, Brayden ($1,750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Best deal you can get for him probably. Sabres decide that they want to push for the playoffs now and Schenn for 4.75m could be the guy to help them with that. I think Ostlund and lottery protected 2026 1st should be reasonable to ask for in this instance here

Still absolutely not. Under no circumstances. And there's no way the Blues would pay whatever would want. Plus it's cute that Marner is a superstar somehow.

I'd do the Buffalo trade in a heartbeat, but they'd never offer that.

Because he's soft as butter come playoff time.

Heh. Yes, the superstar Leafs fans have been bashing and trying to get rid of for years. The superstar casual fans might not have heard of, in part because he’s never been out of the second round.

To be fair, he's far closer to being a superstar than Lily is to being a Parayko replacement. Yikes.

You have effectively made our defense inoperable and extended the time frame to which our cap structure is absolutely trashed.

Marner is a very very good player. He does however not fit a need enough for the Blues to fork out what they'd have to to acquire him, and we can't exactly fix our problems while adding on his salary, and his expected contract extension.

Atrocious for Buffalo. Schenn is on the downside of his career and is currently a low 2C (if that). Making what he makes for the next 4 years (I saw the retention) is wild. The Blues would be lucky to move him with that retention for like a second, never mind a solid prospect and a first.

I hate saying this because he's a Leaf but he would be the best offensive player to play for the Blues since Gretzky. I get he's considered soft in playoffs but he's also a top 3 RW in this league, while also being one of the best defensive wingers in the league.

He's a better offensive player than Brett Hull? Since when? And the Blues don't care about "stars". They like balanced teams. They're not going to pay Marner 3-4M more than Thomas. And certainly not when the gutted defense means they won't contend for a while.

And I know he's a great player. Superstar is another animal. There are players far worse than Marner with bigger names as "stars".

I actually thought Wayne played in St Louis later than Hull. Thought Hull left for Detroit in 97 and Wayne was a Blue in 98 before the rangers.

I get the balance and I get why the Blues wouldn't do the deal but it doesn't stop the fact that Marner would instantly your teams best player and frankly I don't think even this deal gets him out of Toronto. Buch and Parayko are fine players but neither is a star or even a top line player, if Buchnevich was younger or Parayko ever hit his potential it's closer in value but as is the Leafs would only get rid of Marner for a top pairing D man or a young player that can replace him

Dude, Marner is not better than Thomas. And Parayko is literally a 1RD who was the first Dman to lead the league in both blocks and takeaways. This deal would never be offered in the first place.

Hull was in STL two seasons past Gretzkys departure. And the Blues have had others just as good as Marner since.

I love Thomas, would say he's a top 15 center in this league, he hasn't come close to Mariners production or defensive ability. I also can't think of a single other player the Blues have had in the past 20 years who's been a 90+ point player consistently.

Parayko also isn't nearly as valuable as Blues fans on here want people to believe. Wouldn't even count him as a top 20 dman and analytics would say he's even worse than that. On an actual contender he should be on your second pair, like he was when the Blues won a cup.

That Leafs trade is madness. I've noticed that it's always Leafs fans who offer the most ridiculous trades kek

Dude, Thomas played right about the toughest minutes of any forward, if not the toughest. Near the very top of the league in puck battles won two years running. Elite in transition. He is Marner's equal defensively.

And none of that even matters because the Blues are not trading for an 11M winger, let alone one a year from leaving because the Blues are not paying whatever he'd ask.

As for Parayko, he is not available. Simple as. And if you point to analytics, that's just a dead giveaway you don't actually watch him play. Or understand analytics, for that matter.

The Leafs are not getting Parayko. Still.
