What pieces matter now

Description
The rebuild is still in “BPA” territory but LHS D looks really well populated so that eliminates a lot of the BPA around their range (Buium, Silayev, Dickenson).

I don’t think they should grab a smaller forward. It doesn’t matter at this stage of the rebuild but it’s not ideal. And it’s probably too early a pick to grab Catton anyways.

So it seems to come down to Demidov and Levshunov. Two great picks. Both fill needs.

If they grab a long term top sixer this summer like a Necas, I would think they are one more bad year away from having all the pieces! This assumes Moore can pan out as the number 2 C which seems like a very reasonable bet.

Exciting times ahead for Hawks fans.

If they trade Necas, they surely can do better than three 2nds.

Awful proposal

Please explain how the Canes dealing Necas for those picks isn’t awful?

Necas is worth a 1st and probably 2nd, but (3) 2nds, including one that is the 33rd pick in the draft, is not "awful"...it's a bit off but not "awful"

The Canes are not rebuilding. They’re contending. If they deal Necas, it’s very likely for a roster player or players, not futures. Three 2nds, regardless of where they fall does nothing to help them now or next season.

Again, awful proposal from a Canes’ POV

And technically, the San Jose pick will be 33OA, not the Chicago pick.

Simply from a value perspective be it players or picks, the proposal is a bit off, but not "awful". I agree with what you're saying, but your initial response made it sound like value wise Necas lands some massive haul

I’ll stick with awful as that’s what it is.

Necas, to me, gets a Fiala-like return if traded.
