Nothing in for the Leafs in the Pens trade as the Leafs make a Cup run. Why does M NTC Kampf have Coyotes are any team with cap on his trade list?

This trade is a non starter - on both sides apparently. Not sure how Dubas can make any trades if he would be unwilling to part with one of his (only) valuable assets? Not much of value on Pens roster (that he would move), so maybe FA is his only hope - tough to move the needle that way 🤨

Yager is an A tier prospect on any team, I like marker and I know he’s a big part of the leafs but yinz have to realize he is a rental and the rest of the league knows you can’t afford him, no one is throwing the kitchen sink at a guy they know is going to free agency, similar situation to what happened with Jake Guentzel, every team in the league knew he wasn’t resigning, is Marners Value incredibly high when you look at him as a player? Yes but when you look at his contract situation it takes away about half of his value, you’re basically trading away his signing rights

Pens pass. Don't need a 11 mil perimeter player. He is very skilled at what he does, but it's definitely not what the penguins need.
That pick could end up top 5 and yager is a top end prospect

Rust, Jarry, Petterson, Eller, O'conner, pickering, bunting, all have value in a trade lmao. and that isn't counting the players with a lot of value that will not be moved unless they ask for a trade.
two grade A pieces are not in any way worth perimeter mitch marner making 11 mi tears of joy
Maybe one of the two pieces but obviously not both. especially with how little the rental market returns now-a-days

Much better than yours which was flat out lies lmao. Crazy what the pens did with generation talent vs what the leafs have done with potentially the best scoring american ever

Again excellent debate strategy ; change the subject when losing. So far, Pens with Sid (best Canadian player of his generation) have out performed leafs (with best USA scorer of his generation) . Still doesn’t explain why we would ship Marner to Pens for table scraps

I responded to your comment? Didn't change the subject at all? Based on your comments you don't follow hockey anyways so this discussion is pointless lol. at this rate the pens probably win another cup before the leafs can even get to a conference finals lmao

The pens have been the undisputed best team of the cap era. 5 conference final trips, 4 cup finals, and 3 cup wins. No one that actually follows hockey expects them to be very good after such a run of utter dominance in the league. And any pens fan that gets upset when they fall off is a fool or a fair-weather fan.
When is the last time the leafs even made it to a single conference final?

Agreed, Pens were a great team and Sid is top 5 all time. But they aren’t a great team anymore and I have yet to hear an argument why Leafs would trade Marner to Pens for scraps. Probably because there isn’t 🤷🏻

once you explain how a top prospect and a potential top 5 pick is scraps I will gladly explain why the leafs should trade perimeter mitch

Yager is not a top prospect, but agree to disagree. Even assuming he is - Leafs window is now; a guy drafted this past year won’t even crack roster for a few years & a 2026 pick (player wouldn’t be in a position to contribute meaningfully until 28-29?).
Reilly Smith is not worth his cap hit.
So scraps might have been an exaggeration and inaccurate but still makes zero sense for Leafs to make this trade

Perimeter mitch is great at picking up points, distributing the puck, and really helping with regular season success. But he is not effective in the playoffs.
The leafs need a shakeup and getting two A tier pieces could either help their future or be flipped to upgrade areas of major need.
Not to mention they could use that 11 mil in cap space to sign an actual NHL caliber goalie and maybe some better D

you realize how little value marner actually has when the best TOR fans can do is "DuBaS lOvEs HiS gUyS" trade.

Penguins are never giving you that for Marner. No other team is either.

Your trade options are so limited.
1st by a no movement clause.
2nd by an 11 mil salary teams can't afford
3rd by him being a rental.

All 3 of those = no great value coming back.
You are better off keeping him and letting him walk in FA when he demands 11 million again next year.
