  1. McNabb, Brayden
  2. 2025 2nd round pick (VGK)
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (SJS)
  4. 2025 4th round pick (VGK)
VGK
  1. Tavares, John ($5,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
His market value is around 9,000,000. By retaining 5,000,000 he has a 3,000,000 suplus value. McNabb has no suplus value and his contract fits his value. In return for the 3,000,000 lost in value the leafs will receive NEXT year's 2nd, 3rd, and 5th rounders.
2.
TOR
  1. Pinto, Shane [RFA Rights]
  2. Sanderson, Jake ($2,200,000 retained)
OTT
  1. Marner, Mitchell ($1,500,000 retained)
  2. Minten, Fraser
  3. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
  4. 2024 5th round pick (NSH)
  5. 2024 5th round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
In my mind, Maner for Pinto and a 2nd is an equal deal. Although Ottawa struggles to find the room to pay Marner without moving a big contract.

This is why I added Sanderson, who had just short of 40 PTS last year, but is on a huge deal. So I would send a 1st, 2nd (removed from ottawa's side), two 5ths, and the leafs leading prospect, Fraiser Minten.

Lol I quit reading after you said Tavares was worth 9 million this season. I'd guess 6-7 tops and he's only getting worse.

What makes you think hes not worth 9,000,000. Hes underpreforming his contract but still has lots of value. Im not just making the numbers up, I made contracts according to an Athletic anyalist.

What does your analyst say Kadri was worth this year? Hes better defensively, put up more points and is more physical, he must be an 11 million dollar center only getting 7 million. And McNabb is playing top pair minutes for under 3 million how is he not under valued?

No I completely agree, Kadri was nearly $9,000,000 and I really like McNabb which is why I was hoping to trade for him. Just thought that Vegas would like the deal becuase of their lack of offensive forwards and surplus of defensmen.

I would have rather traded Timmonds than McCabe, but I also brought in 3, arguably 4 players who have better defense than both of Benoit and McCabe.

Vegas isn't lacking offensive players, problem is none of them can stay healthy for the whole season.

no, the Sens aren’t trading Sanderson for Minten lmao. you’re asking for two players that the Sens have absolutely zero interest in trading, including one that is completely untouchable (Sanderson), in exchange for two players the Sens aren’t really all that interested in

I am curious as to what in this trade is payment for Sanderson's 8 year (2million) retention?

*EDIT - D*** same guy as the other post. New account, well played sir, stirring the pot. God's speed.

Absolutely none of these trades are anywhere close to planet earth. Ottawa isn't going to provide you with a young 2nd line center, and throw in a #1 defenseman for Mitch Marner. Yes I see Minten and draft picks.... Ottawa isn't planning on making the playoffs in say 3-4 years. Ottawa plans to make the playoffs next season. Ottawa isn't short on offense, where we struggle is on the defensive side. Pinto is one of the better young centers who does actually play a solid 2-way game. Sanderson is Ottawa's best defensive defenseman. On top of all that, you're asking Ottawa to eat money, on an 8-YR deal? Are you out of your mind??? For a #1 defenseman who will be playing for a division rival? The Leafs generously pay some towards Marner's last year of his contract and this is supposed to be a solid trade?

As for the Vegas trade.... Why on earth would Vegas want Tavares? He'd be the 3rd line center there. Not to mention McNabb is a shut-down beast for Vegas. The Leafs aren't going to trade Tavares and get a decent haul of assets. The only way Tavares gets moved, is if Toronto adds some serious sweeteners and eats salary. He's not a guy who is proven in the playoffs, he's slowing down by the game, and Vegas doesn't need to add a guy like Tavares, which is why Toronto isn't moving Nylander for McNabb instead of Tavares in your trade.

Why on earth would the Sens do this?

Sanderson played top pair minutes, faced other teams top guys and put up great defensive numbers. He still put up a respectable amount of points for a 2nd year Dman who played on a terrible PP (how most Dmen rack up points).

You want the Sens best Dmen AND them to retain on him for 8 years for a meh prospect (Minten projects as a ok 3rd liner), a likely late 1st and a late 2nd?

Even if it’s Sanderson for Marner it doesn’t make sense. Marner is only signed for one more year and I highly doubt he’d want to re-sign in Ottawa.

Edmonton accepts. They have zero need for any more LHD but holy hell a 4th for a $2M 2nd pairing defenseman is simply too good to pass up.
