Honestly, I can see CHI eating the remainder of Tavares' contract but they're certainly not going to give up any players they like or value for the privilege.

Would Tavares be a good short-term fit on the rebuilding roster? Sure why not. Plenty of cap. But TOR certainly isn't getting a return for him at his age/price.
