Tavares waiving to Hawks??? Why do Leaf fans have such a fascination with Pesce long term? Stolarz, Joshua, Hakanpaa don't sign for so little.

Hakanpaa isn’t even playing in the stars lineup right now if someone else wants to give up more for him have at it, as for Pesce he’s the perfect partner for Rielly or McCabe and if you want quality you’ll have to pay him. 6.25 will be nothing in 3 years when the cap is 97M. And backup can be anyone really but I don’t think stolarz gets over 2M

All of this is easier said than done. Even if they manage to get both Marner and Tavares to waive their NMC, there's a little chance that they would be able to sign all of Lindholm, Pesce, Toffoli (need more term), and Monahan. This team would probably have some serious chemistry issues too when it matters most.

Pesce is just a younger version of Brodie. People need to realize Rielly isn't a top pairing d-man. He can't-clear the front of the net, play the PK, standup at the blueline, no threat from the point on PP and is average at best winning puck battles.

Hakanpaa has been injured since march 16 or something. Should maybe return at some point during round 2.

Pesce is bigger and definitely stronger than Brodie (even when Brodie first signed) he shoots right and can move the puck a lot better than Brodie too. And yeah I’m not the biggest fan of Rielly as our #1dman but that’s probably not gonna change anytime soon

Hawks decline. They might (and I stress might) be open to a Murphy trade involving Lilypad and picks. But the Hawks aren't taking JT at his full $8m salary without a 1st attached. Assuming he'd even waive for Chicago.

Pesce's not even a Brodie comparable... Pesce can 100% play as the #2 D man on a D core. He's just so similar to Slavin there's no point playing them together

Hawks trade won't happen because they are not taking Tavares till after July 1st bonus is paid. That is after 2024 draft. This trade implies it is before bonus is paid. Not gonna happen.

I agree, they’d pay the bonus don’t think that’d be a problem for the leafs
