I am reading the New York Rangers are shopping Nick Holden ... what seems like a good deal to you guys?

Unless a team REALLY gets desperate for a RHD, I can't see him going for more than a 5th round pick. I'll bet on a 6th, maybe with a condition to become a 5th or 4th.

I mean, maybe before this year but his trade value is definitely higher now than it was a year ago and they gave up a 4th a year ago ... i think they'd get at least a 2nd after the year he had.

You're right, my bad. But that doesn't help his value.
Pros:
- Up season on offense
- All-around, can contribute at both ends
Cons:
- Low CorsiRel% numbers, hasn't been a positive player in his career
- NYR have publicly declared they want to trade him
- LHD < RHD in terms of value

A comparable player is Alexei Emelin, who was just traded for a 3rd round pick. I'll revise my original statement. After thinking about it a little more, Holden for a 3rd or a 4th is probably about right.

Maybe a 3rd and a 5th ... remember Emelin's contract wasn't great, so maybe he would have got more if he was on a better contract.

Not sure the Predators really cared...it's not like they're in any significant cap crunch.

If the situation was right, I could see Holden getting up to that. I don't see much more, and probably not less than a 5th (or the player equivalent).

Brandon Manning can be had for a cheaper price, why not trade for him instead of Nick Holden

Manning would cost a good amount too. He's usually better than Holden but Holden was better this year.

yeah, sure, he'd just ignore it but this is still so crazy how fans say 'oh, this guy's horrible', 'this guy is garbage', 'this guy is trash', 'oh, he's so bad', etc. Like, these guys are NHL players.

No they wouldn't ignore, they would laugh at, "What is this guy worth"?, "what is that guy worth"? "I heard this guy is being shopped"? "I heard that guy is being shopped"? And all other dumb questions and statements that pop up here.

We've been through this, RAIF. These criticisms are relative to the rest of the NHL. Obviously he is good enough to make it into the NHL. He's better than you, me, DavidBooth7, and every other person on this site. But compared to other NHL defensemen, he is not good.
