Just Hear Me Out

Created by: TMLBRIAN
Team: 2024-25 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 21, 2024
Published: May 21, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Vancouver gets a super star winger. With Silovs emergence, does that make Demko expendable?

Leafs get a starting goalie and a high end puck moving RD.

Cowan can be Holmberg or Minten or another vet. There is a chance he makes it. We will see what happens.

Why would Gustafsson sign with Toronto when they wouldn't even play him last time he was there? 🙄

What do you think Bert signs for on his next contract? This is low end for sure.

And I think we can all agree that the Hronek contract I offered here is super reasonable. If he gets more than this, good for him, but we will see!

I thought he did good in Toronto when he did play. They just had 9 NHL dmen. I was hoping they would resign him last year for liek 1.25m, but they didn't and he only got 850k. I think he would be a great add to their top 8 D group. He will make it in most nights but he will sit sometimes.

Different manager and different coach.

How about super star wingers are there in the league??? Marner might rate in the top ten. When his high cap is considered his actual "value" when cap is considered he certainly drops out of the top 10.

What did Evander Kane sign for thats what I would give

And no I argue Hronek's cap comparable should be Severson not a dime more. Maybe push to 6.5m but thats it

Agree with Shark Tank about Gustafson. In the Florida series in 2023,,,,Gustafson and Liljegren were scratched and the ineffective McCabe and Holl were played in that second round defeat
Maybe if Gustafson had been played he would have been a nice cheaper edition to the Leafs in 23/24 season.

The thing with Marner is his NMC presents a problem for value

When Marner goes I want to go to this team the offer dips

Remember Giroux, Tarasenko, etc all had NMC all got lesser returns

I see Marner getting around 75 cents to the dollar so to speak. Its gonna be a good return but not as good if he has another year or no NMC

He's a LD though and if we look at TOR need rn its RD. We got Rielly, McCabe, and Benoit as our LD next year. We need 2-way RD to fill out the other side. Guys who can score, play defense, etc.

The answer is no. A great 10 game showing from Silovs is not making Demko expendable

All I know is that it must be insulting as hell to be scratched in favor of Justin Holl! 🤭

After that Justin Holl got a 3.4m x 3 year contract vs a 825k x 1 year contract. So it looks like league wide Holl was valued quite a bit more. Plus Holl is a RD vs a LD. So they weren't really fighting for the same spot in the line up.

While we're moving goalposts...
