Bad idea, Nichuskin's a head case in his own right where KK just had a down year. If Colorado paid to dump him, I'd be okay taking the chance on him, but not for someone that's as likely to rebound to that 35-40 point mark as KK is

Canes would be better off trading KK for a late pick or literally buying him out for 850k per year.

My personal preference is to loan Nichushkin to a khl team for the regular season. So he can get help in Russia and if he follows the rules and stays clean he can come back and play in the playoffs. His entire AAV is salary so it’s my understanding the Avs would be able to spend the whole amount on replacement players.

He'd have to pass through waivers to be loaned if my understanding is correct so it's almost guaranteed he'd get taken by someone for nothing.
