Description
Name of the game is to get bigger and harder to play against.

Leaving McGinn on LTIR, he's recovering from back surgery, no idea if his career is over, we'd just waive him if he comes back to help out San Diego.

Grab some bottom 6 from cap strapped teams in Kampf and Faksa. Kampf moves down to 4C next year.

I'm not really liking the Necas trade, but with JK not working out at 2C Strome can claim either that spot or the 2RW as needed. Save a couple million against the cap from what Necas would cost and get a pick that's as near as makes no different a first round pick.

Montreal cant afford to move RHD right now, Reinbacher/Mallioux should be playing in the AHL, and Barron isn't ready for full time NHL action unless he makes a jump so it leaves them with only Kovacevic and Savard on the right side. They'd move Harris for a similar return but Anaheim doesn't really need LHD

Edit: Harris can play RH side well but he's better on the left

That's one of the worst offers for Necas I've seen. Canes pass. Would you take Drury and a 2nd for Zegras?

Not quite sure on the value but Strome is an interesting option that I hadn’t seen before.

He fits RH C box that they’re very open about going after. Just not sure if he’s impactful enough to bank on. Haven’t watched him since he went to ANA but remember when watching him on the rags thinking he probably shouldn’t be a 2C on a contender.

He's pretty much the same he was in NYR, just paid 500k more. Issue being Anaheim can't take on a RW without moving one out, we're not moving Terry for Necas, and no one's wanting Killorn the other way.

I don’t think Carolina even considers that. I think it would have to start with the EDM 1st. Strome is a negative asset unfortunately.

As for all the other trades, we can find depth and bottom pairing in FA without having to give up assets.

If Edmonton was eliminated from the playoffs today that what, a 7 pick difference? If the difference between getting the deal done and not us upgrading to the EDM 1st then I'm not putting up a fight for it. As to Strome, I don't know that that's true, he's pretty much playing to the same ability he was in NYR, we only gave him a 500k raise, and with the cap jumping, free agents will be looking for raises.

To the FAs, yeah, maybe, but we'd probably pay them more or have to sign them longer, it's not like I'm giving up any premium assets for any of them. Ristonin particular is an interesting get, he was an all offense guy who's transitioned to a defense first player, might be a good mentor for Mintyukov to help him grasp the defensive side of his game quicker.

All our chips should be on Pesce and Reinhart. Best assets for our roster. The bottom six will shape itself with Verbeek but I don’t think it’s worth moving assets for bottom 6 players. We have plenty of money to spend so that’s not a concern.

I do think Necas could be someone to target, but I think Carolina is going to want the 1st and a different roster player (Vatrano? Lacombe?) I can’t see Ryan Strome being appealing to them. He still has a decent term for a decent contract whereas Vatrano is on a team friendly deal and Lacombe is only going to cost at most 2 mil.

I don't think Necas is exactly oozing with value either, and Carolina generally likes acquiring guys with term, they're the anti rental organization. Guentzel was unusual for them. I think Stromes versatility to be 2RW that can switch to C in case of injuries would be intriguing to Carolina, and who on the UFA market could they get for 2RW for less than Strome?
