I like it pretty much. Jarnkrok is a cheap and relatively young two-way center. This is exactly what we need. And I think the trade is fair enough.

Nice job.

Preds fan. No to the trade. I don't see Hornqvist adding much value for us now that we have Hartnell. And Jarnkrok has great value with his contract and flexibility. We protected him instead of Neal.

Why would the Preds do this? Trenin and the first rounder...might be a wash. Pouilet is not a NHLer and Johnson is a 23 years old who has a never played a game of pro. So the trade is one year of Hornquist verses five years of Jarnkrokok. Considering Jarnkrok placed mostly 3rd liner minutes, there production isn't that far apart.

You understand that Pouliot, Johnson, and Trenin are all prospects, right?

-Pouliot, while I am critical of, but just needs a change of scenery.
-Johnson was a highly sought after college free agent, who was a points leader in the NCAA.
-Trenin is great center in the Q.

I think you're discrediting what high end prospects can do, in regards to valuation of trades....

Pouliot is a bust. There is no way around it. As a Flyers fan, I'm not saying that Scott Laughton is going to be resurrected with a change of scenery.

Jarkrok has significant trade value given the fact that he is locked up for 5 more seasons at a very low cost (2M). If the theory that prospects can land you a player, then why wouldn't every team move significant players from their team?

What? I think you're being way non factual. Sure Pouliot might need a change of scenery, but why should Nashville give up a good player on a great contract to see if Pouliot. But given his opportunities is closer to suspect than prospect. Johnson, 23 year old player who have not played in the pros...rarely become difference makers in the NHL. That's a fact. He has been in the NCAA for reason. Again his pedigree shows he will unlikely to be an NHLer or certainly a difference maker in the NHL. Yes I understand Trenin. Apparently his star his fallen. Great player/centre in the Q. So?
Not I'm not discrediting the three (especially Pouilet and Johnson) as high end prospects. Fact is they are not high prospects. But to me it's just throwing quantity to the Milwaukee team in return for NHL player on a great contract.

Guentzel was an NCAA player.
Sheary was an NCAA player.
Scott Wilson was an NCAA player.
Justin Schultz was an NCAA player.
Jimmy Vesey was an NCAA player.
CHRIS KUNITZ was an NCAA player.

The common denominator of them all? They all started pro around 23. Please check your facts palhal. The NCAA is just as good a development league as the Q, WHL, OHL.

Arom5477. Thanks for skewing the facts to present to own argument... Yes, you provided a bunch of NCAA players. WOW. Read my quote. Johnson, 23 year old player who have not played in the pros...rarely become difference makers in the NHL. Your quote. They all started pro around 23. There is a difference. And then this red herring about the NCAA is just as good development league Q, WHL and OHL. I not arguing, I never implied it was a not a good development league But it factual that most NCAA players that are eventually NHL players do not spend four years in college or to age 23. Almost all...or certainly the difference makers in the NHL, leave college early to play pro.

That's giving up way too much for a 3rd line center. I get Jarnkrok is on a great contract, but not worth a top 9, a 1st, a top D prospect, and a decent forward prospect. And it really doesn't help either team. Btw, pouliot isn't a bust. He is only 22 or 23. Defensemen don't usually become regular NHL players until 24 ish. Pens expect him to start seeing regular NHL time this season so no thanks.
