Trade with Toronto (Thoughts?)

Created by: Bellairs
Team: 2017-18 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 31, 2017
Published: Jul. 31, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It would suck to lose Nash but this could really be a win win for each team plus, we lose Nash's awful contract. This trade was accepted by a big and experienced Toronto fan. By getting Jagr, we can also experiment by getting another solid point getter. If he can get quicker than I'd happily take him with our system.

Leafs would say no, don't need/want Nash now with Marleau, Holden would be the 7th D on TML, losing a #2 centre with retention (Lou hates retaining), Lupul is essentially pointless as the he still costs the leafs 1.5m Cap Hit on LTIR, no point in moving him.

Also Nash has all Canadian teams on his no move list

Leafs can't afford to take on all that cap, the trade is redundant. Lupul is 99% on LTIR, so his trade and retention is redundant. Not sure the Leafs really need Holden. Not sure who Nash would replace on the wing. But I do know the Leafs have the bare minimum of NHL centres therefore I can't see Bozak being traded.
You say a big and experienced Leaf fan like this trade. Well the value of the players is subjective but the salary cap isn't. The fan should that salary cap in very important in making a trade.

Does everyone forget that this is Nash's last year on his contract. Yeah it's not great at 7.8 mil but for one year we can deal with that. Then we can re sign him probably to somewhere around 5.5mil for a couple years. That pay cut can go to signing Hayes, Miller, Skjei and Vesey to decent deals. After this year the Rangers have about 25 mil in cap space without buying Staal out. I think they can manage that.
