I disagree about the cap not moving next year. I think it will get a nice bump form the Vegas team being added into the money pool. It'll be a pretty much guaranteed 95% capacity crowd (at least ticket sales wise) on a nightly basis. New jerseys for every team (some good, some bad) should help spike sales around the league too.

I do think RNH will have to be traded or Maroon/Letestu walk away as a UFA (or TDL trade) to not be in cap hell for years to come.

Yeah, it seems stupid to re-up guys like Maroon and Letestu for that kind of money. They're good players for their role but there will be other UFA's available at a much lower cost.

The cap wont move unfortunately, its more tied to the value of the Canadian dollar than anything else because of how big the market is there. Six Canadian teams bring in about 40% of the leagues revenue. Crazy. A lot of experts have put time into assessing the nature of the Cap for 2018 and 2019 and they all believe its unlikely to move.

Maroon scored 30 goals and Letestu was a good Pk'er and a 40 point player, those numbers are a big hometown discount for each. Not really role players and the way the FA market has panned out, replacing each via FA would be way more $$$.

That is way too much money for Patrick freakin Maroon. If you want to have a guy score goals with McDavid, I will trade you Michael Raffl (sub 3M cap hit) or you can sign any scrub (Nick Cousins, Conor Sheary type player) and save around 4.25M in salary.

Seriously come on. He will score another 30 goals and you will have to pay him. $5.25M is a discount, just look at the signings that occurred this offseason for not 30 goal scorers. The min a decent FA signed for was $4M per. He will score another 30 and command 6M on the open market. I mean Patrick Marleau who is old, wont score 30 goals, and is only moderately faster, went for $6.3M per.

Dude, do you even hockey? A Connor Sheary type player, played on Sid Crosby's wing for how many games this season and still only scored 23 goals? Granted that's not nothing, but seriously the Pens were a better offensive team than the Oilers. Oh and btw, Sheary is also going to get paid and you can expect it to be in the realm of $5.5M-6M per season. You just cant put anyone on McDavid's wing and expect them to score 30 goals. There has to be some semblance of talent. Raffl has one of the best centers in the league dishing to him on a pretty consistent basis and he only had how many goals this last season?
