Good trade. Actually Perfect if the Pens can extend Bozak. I don't know if Leafs do it because they want to contend.

Sick of bad Bozak trades but this is ok.

At least value wise. Gustavsson has elite ceiling and the 2018 draft is DEEP.

Don't know if Toronto makes this tho, since they really are contenders now and have plenty of guys developing

Probably want a roster player back too and no rentention

This is a trade I've suggested in the past. It's the perfect trade because Pitt needs a 3C that can play well with kessel and can be resigned for probably around 4x4. It replaces banino nicely. And to give up a late first and a goalie prospect is a bargain. There first was just used to get reeves so that sets the value there plus Murray is 22 and solid for the next decade. Pitt needs this type of trade. Leafs should make a trade like this. They don't NEED Bozak and won't resign him so reclaim assets and keep on track to rebuild. Play Nylander at C and play him with kappy and komo.

I'm trying to find Gustavsson on the Pens depth chart and doesn't look like he's in the top 25 under 25 plus he's the #2 goalie prospect.
Why would Toronto send a 2C to Pittsburgh and risk missing the playoffs without a replacement ready? (I don't think they are ready to move Nylander to center yet.)
The 1st round pick is good but the prospect would just be added to 3 other G prospects the Leafs have.
Maybe I should have heard of this guy but I haven't, sorry.

EDIT: Did some more looking around and I see him now, ranked Pittsburgh's # 5 prospect. That's not as bad as I thought. Just not sure a goalie prospect is what Leafs are looking for right now.

One thing I will bring up about a possibly Bozak - Pittsburgh situation is that fact that Bozak and Kessel had a falling out in the final season that Kessel was in Toronto, and I know it wasn't pretty but I'm not sure if it was ever resolved. It forced Bozak to make Kessel move out, but that's about all I know about the details from that time.

I like the idea of Gustavsson, and the first is really more of a very high second (good draft though) but I'm just not sure it's what the Leafs are looking for if it's going to make them struggle up the middle and possibly put a playoff run in jeopardy.

I wonder if the Pens wanted a 3C so badly they didn't resign Bonimo. I think folks overvalue a first round pick from the Pens, it's likely 27th at best. And as other suggest...Leafs need immediate help now to make the playoffs not never ending futures.
