Need Change Now

Created by: ChiHawk
Team: 2017-18 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 29, 2017
Published: Oct. 29, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Duchene would be a great compliment to Kane.

Troubja would be awesome with Keith, he has speed that Keith is losing at his age, but would benefit greatly from playing on a top line with one of the best D men of this generation.

laugh laugh You couldn't even give Pokka away for free? If you want Sakic to retain on Duchene you need to offer better then this. And FYI the Hawks don't have the pieces for Trouba and he wont be cheap to resign either.

While I disagree with your statement about Pokka, replace Pokka with Oesterle. Sakic wants a development D guy along with a guy that can fit in now.

The Hawks have the pieces for Troubja, that's a silly statement to say they don't. Debrincatt and Anisimov (eating salary) plus a solid 2nd or 3rd line D in Kempney plus a first round and 3rd round draft pick is a lot and a fair offer. Hell, take away the other pieces and give them Toews for Troubja and then the Hawks are overpaying. And yes, they can resign next year if they move a Seabs, Toews or Anisimov, they need a future #1 D guy and will pay for it if they can get him.

You're a Wings fan so I get the criticism especially considering the Wings don't have a much of a team and have a way worse cap situation then the Hawks.

Hardly a franchise player. Is he a future #2 or #3 forward; yes possibly but he's no Kane or Toews.

I mean he does have a 5.7% chance at being a franchise but those are small odds. laugh

As a Jets fan I wouldn't touch that trade and it's mainly because there is no way the Jets trade a dollar for four quarters when our prospect pool is already overflowing, especially with Wingers.

- 2018 1st is nice but we're giving back a 2018 2nd so it's really just moving up a bit in the draft.
- Anisimov would be our 3C behind Scheifele and Little, but you have us moving our current 3C back to you and the Jets love Lowry. He also blocks Roslovic who we assume takes this role maybe even later this year.
- Debrincat probably ends up a winger and with Laine, Ehlers, Wheeler and Connor already filling our top 6, plus Perrault he'd likely be a third liner at best for us. We already have Petan as a small skilled winger that can't crack the lineup.

So we're giving up Trouba for no real clear upgrades anywhere and our immediate top need becomes a young top pairing potential RHD.

Any deal for Trouba has to be 1 for 1 or a case where the Jets add to get a superior player. Maybe we could look at a deal like this in 3 years if he's going to go UFA but we could likely move him for a 1st and top prospect at the deadline then... maybe more if he continues to improve like we think he will.

It'd be more like Trouba for Saad or something like that, but again we don't need wingers so I wouldn't do that deal either.

I've posited Nurse+ for Trouba recently, but haven't had much feedback from Jets fans. What do you think? (Keep in mind that Nurse has been the Oiler's best defenseman through the first 10 games. Here's hoping it continues.)

Instead of trying to acquire any of these guys, I think it is time to say "CYA" to Quenneville.

I"ll agree the Trouba trade isn't enough to get him. I don't think the Jets want to trade him, nor should they as there's no reason to trade him unless it's for a goalie.
That said, there are a lot of RFA's & UFA's on the team next offseason. They'll also need to sign Laine to an extension, and it'll probably be a pretty big number. There is the salary cap math to do, and Trouba may or may not fit in going forward (but they won't trade him for a bottom pair D, a 5'7" forward and the C Blackhawks fans are done with).
Last point, I've been hearing great things about all the wingers the Jets have in the system for a few years now, but to be honest, at some point it all ought to translate into at least making the playoffs, right? It hasn't yet, so maybe they do need to trade Trouba & a prospect to get a forward for this year if they want to make it to the playoffs.

Last season Winnipeg was 7th in GF but 27th in GA. More forwards / less defense isn't the answer.
