This started realistic, and then it wasn't.
I dont think we should be trading McIsaac for patches. He COULD possibly develop into a top pairing defenseman, and most likely wont be any worse than a 2nd pairing guy. We need defense, we do not need to trade our higher end defensive prospects for aging veteran forwards.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div>I think Edmonton could get better for klefbom, the package seems fair value but I think they could do better. you wont get a 3rd for helm his cap number stinks for his role and he gets hurt too much. I always liked him as a player, second coming of Kris draper but he never really grew into it. I think rass will be ok but like all young guys it takes time same with zadina but id rather lose and let them grow than lose with the veterans. Svechnikov is a very important guy. if he gets it together and even turns into a tatar or Nyquist level scorer it will be a big win. He just looks like a bust of a first rounder so far but guys grow at different rates. I hope he gets 25 or 30 strait games in the top 6 to really get a feel and see how he fits. but your right, young guys in, old guys out and I hate to lose but jack hughes would look pretty good in a winged wheel.</div></div>
Yeah i think the helm trade maybe a bit off, ill change it to the same as Jensen i think. And i also agree on the Oilers trade, but i wont change that because Chiarelli gonna Chiarelli lol.
The way i look at it is this: With the old guys, we're gonna lose.. bad. So might as well put the young group in there and give them a chance. Worst case? We lose a lot of games, which would happen anyways if we dont play the kids. So might as well put them in there, get them learning to play at the NHL level and maybe something good happens.

I think the value is there, assuming Karlsson re signs. If he doesn't i think you severely overpaid for Mark Stone and 1 year of Karlsson.
Do i think its a good trade (assuming Karlsson re signs)? On paper, yes. However I doubt it gets the job in in real life circumstances.

Im not too familiar with Manson, so idk about that trade, but the Kings probably say no to the Muzzin trade. Muzzin and Doughty are their top 2 Dmen. They just locked Doughty up long term, so they probably want to do the same for Muzzin.

Under the cap with Mantha, Larkin, Zadina, Ras all in opening night.
Looks perfect to me.. although thats not what will happen with Blash in charge. Forwards will most likely looks like this:
Bertuzzi - Z - Nyquist
Abby - Larkin - Mantha
AA - Nielsen - Vanek
Ras - Glendening - Zadina

When i saw it, it was like Tyler Johnson and Raddysh and another other mediocre piece for Karlsson and a 2nd rounder, and no bobby ryan, he changed it between then and now.

Ideal 2018-19 Line Up after Z & Kronwall hit LTIR
I agree, they probably pass, but Chiarelli isnt the sharpest tool in the shed. Though i do think AA and McDavid would play well together, AA can keep up with McDavids speed. I would like Z to play another season as well, but he's not sure he will come back this season. At this point its probably more likely we have 1 more year of Kronwall rather than Z.

I disagree. Maybe at his current level, but in a few more years of positive development he is easily a 2C on any team in the league.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMhockey99</b></div><div>Evgeni hasn't done anything and is looking like a bust.</div></div>
He's still raw. Sure he had a stumble this last year, but showed the previous year in Grand Rapids.
Plus the intangible value of playing with his brother would be something the Canes would and should consider.
Playing with his brother on the same team would without a doubt elevate his play to his highest potential, that could be of serious value to the Hurricanes who have an over abundance of D prospects that they couldnt possibly keep them all, even in they did find a way to get them all on the roster they surely couldnt pay them the money they would all command. It's a win-win situation. Its just hypothetical, of course, but back to the original point, Larkin is much better than you give him credit for, if we can overhaul this team, he could easily put up 70-80 points.

Very True, but there is more that we can do, for instance if carolina drafts Andrei Svechnikov there might be interest in Evgeny, im sure we could work a deal for Hanifin, Bean, or Fleury, using players not named Larkin, by packaging Evgeny, + prospect + pick or something a long those lines.

Larkin for Hanifin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMhockey99</b></div><div>As a die hard Wings fan I think Larkin is a number two center. He is overrated by a lot of people. When you compare him to other number one center's in the league he would be at the bottom of the list. I also think Rasmussen has number one center potential. So trading Larkin is fine if we get a good young dman in return.</div></div>
Your logic is flawed. We dont have a #2 center, so IF as you say Larkin is at best a #2 center, and Ras will be a #1 center, then right there is your #1 and #2 for the future. Trust me, Larkin is much better and is more valuable to this team than you give him credit for.
Z will be done playing in the next year or two, and if he does still play it will be in a reduced bottom 6 role, not a top 6. So that leaves Nielsen (old - will play bottom 6), Ras, and Larkin. Ras can be our #1 if he turns out better than Larkin, and Larkin will slot in at #2.

Not going to comment on the trades, but Ras is not eligible for the AHL, he will either make the team out of camp or have to go back to the WHL.

Sorokin and Hanifin
Larkin for Hanifin is a hard no.
I just posted a hypothetical trade that the guys over at WIIM and Canes Country cooked up for Hanifin, curious to see what the Carolina fans think. But definitely not for Larkin.
Also i dont like the overpayment for Sorokin, he seems like a really skilled goalie, but he is still in year 1 of his 3 year deal with CSKA Moscow. I think the high 2nd would be enough, not the first as well. But theres still that "what if" factor with russian players who are still playing in Russia.

No doubt, Big Buff is so tough against the smaller guys, he ragdolled Spurgeon several times through out the series.
I do think the Pacific will need to evolve to match Vegas and SJ, they play fast and it seems the bulky pacific teams cant keep up, Edmonton is almost there, so yeah they might be a good fit for Goose.

They already have too many same or better LHS wings so he would slot in on the 3rd line I guess. It's a hard trade to make work unless it comes at the TDL next season.</div></div>
Very true, he would be expensive for 3rd line, but yeah maybe trade deadline deal.
Im really thinking he ends up in Nashville though, they had interest in him before, and i think the wings were stuck in "maybe we can make the playoffs" mode, so they didnt trade him.

Coyle, Matheson, Athanasiou
Yeah, no way Detroit lets a speedster goal scorer go for a goalie who has shown subpar performance at the NHL level, and a pair of thrids + McCarron.
However McCarron is interesting, being a good prospect, and good ole michigan boy, but i think you're more likely to pry Athanasiou from Detroit by just offering them McCarron + a 2nd, and a 3rd.

Immediate Defensive Threat
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AlexG35</b></div><div>Of course you can, that 5th pick could also turn out to be a complete bust. Isles traded out of the 5th pick in 2008 because they didn't think Nikita Filatov was going to live up to the hype, which he didn't. The value sheet was based off previous drafts and how players ended up performing at those picks. It's obviously not always right but I just used it as a basis because when it really comes down to it the team makes the price. Maybe that 5th pick is immovable to the Yotes, maybe they want to drop down and add picks</div></div>
Sure, but in a draft where there isnt much of a drop off until around picks 8-9, its highly unlikely the player picked at 5 will not live up to the hype. Especially when moving down to 11th in a draft where there is a major drop off of talent outside the top 8. The player picked at 5 will be a contributor for their team. And i would say that goes for most years. Im not knocking the method you used, i'm just trying to say that teams don't think like that, and would be very hesitant to trade a top 5 pick, especially when the trade moves them outside the top 10.
