Dubois and Helly gone
I don't think CHI would be willing to give up a 3rd for Dvorak. Doesn't exactly fit our timeline so the only way we would look at his value to us at least is to be paid to do so or for us to get him at below market rate so we could get more at a later trade.

Cant see PIT moving 14OA for this but if your going to do a band aid moment and just cop it, this is something to be considered. The obvious difficulty apart from the fact I don't believe the Pens would do this is the Carter NMC.

Agree.
This should be low on the priority of cap dumps for us to take. Much more lucrative options out there to pursue prior to considering this.

I find it highly unlikely CHI is going to take all of Goodrows Salary for the next 4 years for only a 2nd.
Also the fact of the NTC which has been pointed out.

future
Cap dumps cost and Myers with his $5m bonus still to be paid is going to cost. My opinion is that salary would cost a 2nd to shed prior to the bonus being paid.
Boeser is worth maybe a 3rd + 5th.
Its not very enticing for CHI.
Here, take our unwanted cap and pay us a positive asset to do so.

Just A Bit Outside The Box
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Patches</b></div><div>I’m going to go against the grain here and say the Blackhawks should accept this trade.
HEAR ME OUT FELLOW HAWKS FANS!! PLEASE!!! HAVE MERCY!!
I have a lot of love for Seth Jones. I think he has the potential to return to top 10 Norris voting form if given the right system/teammates. In addition, he could provide a great deal of value to the Hawks by playing the heaviest minutes and sheltering + mentoring some of our upcoming D prospects.
HOWEVER
When our upcoming prospects (Reichel, Korchinski, Bedard) are entering their prime production years, Jones will likely be in the last several years of his deal, as a 33-35 year old. Not many D-men age like Giordano. At that point in time, the Hawks may find it more valuable have that ~$5M in dead salary and have the other ~$5M to spend on free agency or re-sign some of the many 1st rd picks we have coming up.
In addition to freeing up that future salary, we would also acquire a top 20 overall pick in a highly lauded draft, and another pick + prospect.
All told, I would accept this trade as the Hawks.
Hawksguy81▾ GARAK Aussie_Blackhawk thoughts?</div></div>
I have to disagree.
Jones helps us out for the next few years at least to reach the cap floor as it expands and is still going to be our best D man for the next few years at least.
The retention of over 30m is also massive and I'm not convinced taking another swing with draft capital makes this a W for CHI.
I like the top 20 pick yes, the 2nd is alright (we have plenty) and the prospect returning is trying to find his feet on NA ice and plays a position we are already struggling to accomodate due to the large numbers he carry.
Its just not worth it for me and the reality is we have to ride it out or find a trade partner without retention.

Pens
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChampEddy</b></div><div>He is a good player when in a scoring role. The Pens don’t have that for him. In Chicago he is a top 6 scoring F.</div></div>
No team is going to pay for what they think he could be. The current value is worked out based on past performance partially but the most important factors are current performance and situation. You aren't getting your money back (2nd) for him. The best outcome is that you keep him and he finds some form. Failing that, its likely that you will be required to pay to move his salary if you need flexibility (unlikely).

That would be a really bad move from CHI. Just picked up Bedard, thats meant to speed up the rebuild. Getting later picks pushes that back and doesn't work unless we are incentivised and this isn't it.

Think he is meaning that we get a 5th for retaining money in the deal. Unfortunately the 5th wouldn't cover it as the slot is more important to us than a late round pick as it stands.

I think simple is just Bailey and the 2nd. The rest just complicates it and moves it away from CHI accepting IMO.
