Description
I think shedding off some of the bigger contracts, while still having the elements off a competitive team will only help retain Sorokin, Romanov, and Dobson in the near future. Giving Drouin a one year deal and top 6 mins would allow them to flip him at the deadline if he performs well. I left additional cap space to extend Sorokin in the off season. Isles fans let me know if you think Bolduc and Aho will both be in the starting lineup on night 1!!! Wasn't too sure if they'd go the Mayfield type. Wasn't sure about picks in the Tanev deal.

Palmieri was fantastic down the stretch, so they aren’t paying to swap him for a fourth liner like Tanev who makes 1.5 million dollars less. I say that as someone who likes Tanev too.

I think simple is just Bailey and the 2nd. The rest just complicates it and moves it away from CHI accepting IMO.
Garak, Hawksguy81, RicXX and 2 others liked this.

That's totally fair, they just produce similar stats and tanev always brings that aggression that Palmieri lacks.

Palmieri had 33 points in 55 games, and Tanev had 35 in 82. Imo that’s not similar because you can’t ignore games played. Also you have to remember that Palmieri has been very aggressive on the forecheck, but he’s not a fourth liner like Tanev. Different roles, different players, and the isles aren’t making that swap imo.

Also you severely overpaid Wahlstrom, who is most likely looking at signing his QO or a 2 year deal with a 1.5 million dollar AAV. Also Bolduc won’t get significantly more than Salo based on his play thus far.

Well Tanev is a fourth liner on the deepest team in the nhl. He definitely plays third line on 95% of the teams in the league. Even though Palmieri was on pace for 14 more points I find he lacks the intangibles that Tanev provides a team. My thoughts with both Wahlstrom and Bolduc are to sign them into their last or 2nd last rfa year so when they expire they're still under team control, hence slighty overpaying atm, but given opportunity they should be bargains for the last year.

The one thing Tanev has on Palmieri is speed. But even then Tanev had never hit 35 points before last year, and may never do so again. Also if you put him on the isles he only has ten points next season lol.

That doesn’t make any sense from a contract perspective. Qualifying offer may not even come out this high in two or three years lol.
