How the Wild can fit both Kaprizov and Hertl
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>I wouldn't go near that trade if I'm MN. I disagree. In definitely think this roster is good enough to make the playoffs in the central nvm the entire west. I think the Wild are set up to cope without the first round pick and those two prospects I included in the deal. But I guess we will have to agree to disagree here.

Holl is injured
Relax, they left a non official scrimmage, let's not freak out before the Leafs communicate an official statement regarding their status. Why risk skating around in a non-important scrimmage if something is bothering you, makes little sense. We should be better and not speculate too much until all the details are shared.

ARZ flips Timmons to add to the 1st and 3rd round picks for Kuemper
I think Timmins is exactly the type of player Arizona hopes can take huge steps during their rebuilding process. I am not saying that he is slam-dunk by any chance, but he has the chance to form a great defence pairing with Chychrun for a long time. I don't think Arizona really considers moving him, and I most definitely don't think MTL would give up all those assets for him. He is still young (not in his prime) and has 33 NHL games under his belt. 45 if you include playoffs. MTL would be absolutely crazy to throw those assets on him.

Easily? I think that is disrespectful to Tampa, Toronto and Boston. While I think Florida did improve greatly during the offseason, their goaltending is an even bigger question mark than MTL's. I have no doubt that Knight is a phenomenal talent, but banking on him might be risky. I would feel more comfortable with Allen in MTL that has the track record. This is if Bobrovsky fathers again and Price is hurt. I respectfully disagree with you.

Definitely wouldn't call Subban a replacement level player. I think he still is effective in the NHL, only not playing 22 minutes a night. Take his ice time down to between 18-19 minutes, and I think he can become quite solid. As for a replacement for him, There are a few FA available in Vatanen, Demers and Gustafsson. Hamilton and Severso will eat up the majority of the minutes anyways so that 3RD doesn't need to be a superstar by any imagination.

They would only eat $1M in actual dollars and the Devils are blessed with cap space.

Exactly, same with someone like Vlasic. There are other teams out there that in a year time will need to dump a contract. I am looking at Florida with Hörnqvist, Calgary with Lucic, Colorado with Johnson, Edmonton with Keith, and Vegas with Dadonov to name a few. I am not saying that Arizona should get all these players, but a few of them would be good. Hörnqvist, Lucic, Johnson and Keith are all good veterans too that the young kids can learn from.

No because a 22 man roster built like this has $136K left in cap space:
Ritchie-Matthews-Marner
Bunting-Tavares-Nylander
Kerfoot-Kämpf-Kase
Engvall-Spezza-Simmonds
Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Dermott
Campbell
Mrazek
Brooks and Liljegren extras.

I think trading for Bob is smart. He obviously needs to waive to go to Arizona, but it is not like AZ is the worst place to live in either. Convincing him will be the hard part. He will eat a good bunch of your cap until the team is ready to move out of the rebuild. Someone like Vlasic would make sense too. He is a great pro that has had a great career and can mentor the young guys coming through. He is obviously not a $7M defenseman, but he can still play at the NHL level on a third pairing. Will probably be beneficial to someone like Söderström. Just like Bob, he has a NMC, so you will have to convince him to come. I am sure the Sharks would love to get out of that contract. That would at least be a good start to eat up some cap during the rebuild. I'd prefer them to go that route rather than offering guys like Cole $4M as that would send a message to the league that you can come to Arizona if you want to make money. Not sure if that is good for team spirit.
It will be a long and painful road, but if Arizona does it right, they can come out looking exciting like Ottawa and LA does now.

Unfortunately, we aren't in a position to retain anything o Mikheyev. If we move him, we are clearing his full salary so that we can field a 22 man roster.

Arizona Coyotes 21-22 Projected Roster
Oh boy. Eriksson won't play on the first line, I can assure you that. Ladd will likely not play either, probably have him either scratched or on IR, not sure what the situation is with him. Provolnev is a Russian defenseman they signed this offseason, good chance he starts on the third pair with his countryman Lyubushkin. I would have Capobianco as the 7th D and have Söderström play in the minors for this season. No need for him to play on the big club or be in the press box this year. Larsson is the 3C and Beagle the 4C. My lineup would be:
Keller-Schmaltz-Kessel (if he still is here before the season starts)
Dzingel-Hayton-Jaskin
Crouse-Larsson-Fischer
Roussel-Beagle-Boyd
Eriksson, O'Brien.
Chychrun-Timmins
Gostisbehere-Strålman
Provolnev-Lyubushkin
Capobianco.
Hutton
Korenar
Jenik, Maccelli, Söderström and Prosvetov likely gets some looks at points during the season.

How Well is Burke Following His Own Philosophy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensfan89</b></div><div>Pettersson spent a good portion of the season playing 2nd pair minutes. That is what I figured. Does Marino have another offensive level to unlock in his game, or is he basically going to be what he is now offensively? I would imagine a Pettersson-Marino pair would be good if Marino can improve offensively.

Really nice squad here! I only have two things really to comment on, Appleton isn't really a 4th liner and Weegar is widely regarded as a top pairing defenseman. I think is a little unfair to the players to put them in those roles if I am being harsh. Everything else looks great tho, fantastic job!

I was commenting with someone on another one of these posts about how other gms seem to build teams. I'll probably be guessing a roster as to how they would. No promise on it's accuracy though.</div></div>
Only thing I forgot to mention about Robertson is that he is on his ELC, I didn't use any players on their ELC on my team, but you can obviously do as you like.

Nice team! My only concern would be playing someone like Watson on the third line as I see him more as a 4th liner. Chychrun isn't really a 2nd pairing defenseman either, he is someone you can fit in there due to his contract being excellent. I like your additions of Whitecloud and Robertson, I haven't seen them on any other team yet.
Overall great job, thanks for taking on this challenge!
