Ottawa doesn't want to give up their prospects or picks probably, they could easily just trade Niemela and those two Toronto 1sts for Chychrun.
Chychrun+Minten+Voit for DeBrincat isn't bad at all. If they go for a cheaper option than Chychrun then they can benefit a lot more from that trade.

Ottawa spent ...
the 7th overall pick in 2022
the 39th overall pick in 2022
a 3rd round pick in 2024
on DeBrincat ...
Ottawa is receiving in this trade ...
Two 1st round picks in 2023/2024 with no conditions or lottery protection
Fraser Minten (38th overall pick in 2022)
Topi Niemela (64th overall pick in 2020)
Ty Voit (153rd overall pick in 2021)
Pending UFA Alex Kerfoot
for DeBrincat ...
When you add it all up, this is a home run for Ottawa.
My one piece of advice to <a href="/users/sens65" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@sens65</a> is to not bite the hand that feeds you.
Even if it's from an arch-rival like the Leafs.
Ottawa accepts.

wondering thoughts of avs fans
I can see the Avs trying for something like a 3 year bridge for the same money as Manson for Byram. If I'm correct in my belief he'd be RFA still at the end of it but it would be a 'prove it' contract, more in regards to staying healthy both mentally and physically. Then he moves up to a big money deal as Manson's contract expires (basically Manson's money becomes a 'banker' in a similar fashion to how EJ's has been for MacKinnon's new deal). With Toews it all depends on when the cap goes up and by how much. If it goes up 4 mil next year depending on what happens with the escrow shenanigans then the Avs should be ok. If it's less then it gets trickier. I'd be happy with pretty much anything less than 8 x 8.

His contract ends right at that first big projected cap hit upshoot so on the open market, I could see him getting Heiskanen - Pietrangelo money. Why did I pick those two comparisons, took me a bit with ie's there.</div></div>
Heiskanen was an RFA, pietrangelo has a longer track record of being an elite #1. I think 7.5 mill x 8 is what it will be , Toews will be 31 in the first year of his new deal. Weegar just got 6.5 mill x 8 and he's a similar defenseman to toews

Evidence for a strong legal convictions can be so scarce too. Even if there is evidence, often victims have such a short time to take action while still processing what happened. Sometimes they don't even have it in them to come forward to the police because of how much it messed them up or out of fear or both.</div></div>
Yup and once in court, they are asked to relive a absolutely horrifying situation and if they seem troubled the defence uses that as the victim changing their story. Imagine trying to stay composed when faced with all that.

It's a huge problem in hockey still. It's so sad when so many will defend people that do this saying, "if she didn't want to be there she could have left" or "it's just some woman wanting money" it's absolutely disgusting. Hockey players and men in general get away with rape way too often. It needs to be stamped out and hard.

You got it correct unlike this sight who say it was a 3 team trade. It wasn't at least according to Steve Yzermsm who said Colorado GM offered Quincey for Downie then Holland found out he acquired Quincey and offered his 1st.

I’d say just outside playoffs, but competitive.
Murray > Georgiev
Marino > Coghlan
Ty Smith > Emberson
Bjorkstrand > Kunin, Lorenz
Pacioretty > Brown, Leonard
Deangelo > Coghlan
Vanecek > Georgiev
Husso > Talbot, Georgiev
Petry > Coghlan
Hill > Georgiev
To keep cap compliant, I’d go with something like
Huberdeau - Haula - Debrincat
Tkachuk - Zacha - Fiala
Brown - Dach - Bjorkstrand
Leonard - Poehling - Olivier
McDonagh - Weegar
Romanov - Burns
Smith - Marino
Husso
Gustavsson

I agree, but if the Devils tossed like a mid round pick back so the avs can use that as a TDL currency, no issues giving up both

I could see him being a cheaper, shorter term option at 2C for the Avs than Kadri and to me would look like a nice transition piece until Newhook is a more matured, more filled-out 2C option.</div></div>
True, I had this same idea in trading for Miller. Takes pressure off Newhook assuming Kadri has outplayed what the Avs are willing to pay him. I don't think you'd get Giroux for the price Miller is already signed at.

I wouldn't part with a 1st for Mayfield personally. Avs need to save those picks for high-impact players rather than depth players.

Another version of my Avs TDL ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BlastnyFromThePastny</b></div><div>That one was TBL 1st & 3rd for Savard & 4th, What about keeping in here Gilbert, a 2nd & 5th? Maybe the Avs have a 6th or 7th coming back? I definitely know his appeal which is why having him for the next couple playoff runs would be unreal. I've just heard mixed things of value.
Btw Gilbert is a 26 yr old physical defensive Dman who looks pretty near NHL-ready, continuing development in the A vs fighting the veterans Murray, J.Johnson and MacDermid for ice time and is on an RFA contract. So someone I do think could grow into a similar role as Mayfield as the isles #PainForShane this year. So I feel like he'd be a valuable piece in a trade like this.</div></div>
A 2nd wouldn't be enough for NYI to part with Mayfield. Remember that he is very useful for their chances of having a good run next year too, so they'd need to be convinced to move him. They could easily fetch a 2nd+ for him at next years deadline as well if they wanted to move him then.
Gilbert is an AHL Dman who NYI can claim on waivers in October. At best he'll top out as a 3rd pairing Dman but that's not really much of a return at the deadline for a player who will be highly coveted with a great contract.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BlastnyFromThePastny</b></div><div>Interesting, what's the ask for Mayfield?</div></div>
As you said yourself in the description he has a great contract for two years and is a dependable middle pairing shutdown RHD. If he's moved (big if) then he'd likely warrant something close to or approaching the return that Savard got last year. His contract would be appealing to a lot of teams, and he has a lot of playoff experience the last two years as well.
