Keep Core and Add Larkin and Goalie
I think the Larkin trade empties the cupboards way too much. Leafs need to keep all those pieces for future building IMO. Also, Detroit has a lot of pieces that fit those player's bills anyways with a chance t oget more this upcoming draft. If this wave can't get it done, develop a wave around this core that can. The expensive 4 has decent term with no sign of slowing down for the duration of those contracts so I say keep building around them.

Reunited and it feels so mediocre
I wouldn't mind this next season, Stastny would be a cool 3C. For me it's the debate to have Jost at the 3C spot or not. On the wing, he's not becoming a better centre. So does this mean he's a winger now? The Landy and Makar signings seem spot on for me, Gru I wonder if he'll push for 6 minimum. I like the Jost amount too but I wonder if he'll push for 2 minimum.
The big question is, even if EJ is 100% healthy, do we trust he'll make it through a season to be a steady veteran Top 4 D we really could've used this last playoff run? Or are we hoping for LTIRetirement?
EDIT - I too am hoping we can send Graves to the East for mid to late 2nd rounder in 2021.

TDL Patrik Laine Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ALjet12</b></div><div>New Jersey didn't get an elite defensemen in the Taylor Hall trade and it will be less games this year after the TDL so NO</div></div>
Taylor Hall is a terrible comparison. Not an RFA, last year of his contract, injury-riddled career, not a consistent 30-40 goal scorer, got traded from a rebuilding team so yeah of course the return would be futures.
Trades are made to address club's needs not because "this is what you get so deal with it." And trades are not all made based on previous trades. A lot of them are pretty unique. An elite defenseman is a reasonable ask for a player that spent most of their ELC being a top-notch sniper in the NHL.

Ranking Every Teams best player
I like this for the most part and ranking players can be such a hairsplitting deal so I like where they place generally. Do I think Eichel is better than Josi? Yes, but am I happy with where on that list they generally sit? Most definitely. I would switch out Hamilton for Aho, Gio for Tkachuk or Johnny Hockey and Seguin for Pavelski or Heiskanen personally. Also, I'd go full salty Avs fan and switch out McDavid for Draisaitl, but I'll get over Mack's second Hart snub one day... maybe once Covid is eradicated.

Bad contract swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mk458</b></div><div>You don't need to take back Lucic to dump Johnson. You could simply retain a little on Johnson and move him out. As someone who is a Oilers and Flames fan (yes we exist), I wouldn't want that contract even at 50% retained. He slows down whatever line you play him on, he isn't the team glue or leader people once thought he was, and his contract structure is the absolute worst (NMC and designed to be buyout proof). Trust me, you don't want lucic at anything over 1.5 million. I'd honestly rather have Matt Martin on my team at this point</div></div>
I agree, Calvert plays bigger than his size and can skate, Bellemare plays physical and can skate and Nichushkin is adding some physicality to his game, can skate and still has some stick skill. So I don't see what roster spot you give Lucic that makes the Avs better. I am happy keeping EJ.

Hearing Graves is the front runner to go to Seattle. But they can only protect two of Girard, Makar and Toews with Johnson's NMC.

Bad contract swap
The 2nd rounder doesn't do it for me. Johnson has been a huge leader on this team for the better part of this past decade, which I think is a pretty irreplaceable intangible. He is still decently defensively sound in a Top 4 role. He does have injury issues but that kinda does help present just the right amount of opportunity for up-and-comers.
I like his contract on the books as a placeholder for the MacKinnon raise. Most of that cap space will go to MacKinnon at the end of his contract haha.
I don't think this trade makes the Avs better and I don't think Johnson deserves to play on the Flames bottom 6 pairing nor should he push either one of Tanev or Andersson down to that spot.

IF YOU COULD MAKE ONE UNREALISTIC TRADE CHALLENGE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeastModeUnknown</b></div><div>it seems like every deal involving ROR has been a fleece. Compher and Zadorov really didn't turn into much. Then you get the chance when he's in Buffalo where it's 2 Spare Parts and a Retiree with a first round pick which did turn into Montour, and a 2nd round pick that we don't know about yet was quite the trade too. So I guess it's just O'Reilly. I know one. Mitchell Marner, and Auston Matthews for Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen close to even enough. Toronto might have to offload another contract but it seems pretty close in cap.</div></div>
It's true, trading away O'Reilly, while it gets better, isn't quite a Suzuki, Tatar & 2nd kinda deal ever. While I respect Marner and Matthews, I am gonna stick with my playoff series winners.

Same here, as nostalgic as that would be, the only player with low defensiveness on the Avs that they care to play with Mack is shotmaster Burakovsky. The Mack and Drouin era ended with a Memorial Cup win. Let it end there on a guaranteed happy note. Bringing Drouin to Colorado would just not be a good time for anyone.

I like seeing what expansion ideas people come up with. I wonder of one of Eriksson-Ek or Andersson is the Karlsson of the Kraken. Sneaky Swede!
As an Avs fan talking with other fans, I think we protect Compher and expose Graves. Although unless the Avs can ask Johnson to waive his NMC or they pay a pick to convince Seattle to take Graves, the Avs can only protect two of Makar, Toews and Girard.

Most unfortunate Sakic trade, not a total fleecing, I love Compher and Zadorov (now Saad in this trade tree) but man was not on the winning side. Interesting progression though, let Stastny walk, lose O'Reilly trade, win the ever living crap out of the Duchene trade.

I needed to know haha, it's surprising how much I can miss based off of just not registering it when I see it because it's not my team or generally holding assumptions and never updating them. In Avs land this happens with Compher. People make him a 4RW when he's usually a 3C,
