Is Farabee available
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Understood, I can only see MTL be willing to part with WINs 1st rd pick this year, The 2025 CGY 1st rd pick could be moved, but not until MTL has more info on where the pick will land (There's no way they move it if it still has a possibility of being 2nd overall. Same applies for MTLs 2025 1st rd pick, until MTL knows how their season plays out, I highly doubt it's for sale.
And just my 2 cents, I don't see how a 24 year old winger who only just hit 50 pts, gets anywhere close to a potential #1C in value... Unless Philly is willing to add an even better asset to him, but at that point Farabee would only be a complimentary piece to the deal.</div></div>
I would give top 7 protection on both. Maybe top 10. But u just answered ur own question, Farabee had a terrible second half of the season on a low scoring team and still hit 50 points as a 24 year old. He spent most of the season with Laughton and Coots as his centers, now don’t get my wrong I like those guys, but something tells me playing with Suzuki or Newhook as his center would easily put him in the 60-65 point range. I think he will top out at 65 as a Flyer but if he goes to a team that had a bright future like Montreal he can push for that 70ish point range as a 2LW.
Your question for this whole team was “Is Farabee available?”
Sure he’s available, everyone is available for the right price but no the Flyers aren’t actively shopping him which means you would have to blow them away to move him.
And no I don’t expect the Flyers to get Montreal or Calgary’s pick if they are in the top 5 cause that’s only like superstars that command that ask, so like I said I would put trade protections on it.
But if ur the Flyers u have to ask urself if I move Farabee what’s the likelihood I replace him with someone better? The likelihood of picking someone better with Winnipeg’s pick is definitely low so there’s no real incentive for them to make that deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Nope, Dach is pretty much unmovable. Not just because Habs management have fully committed to him, and it's generally agreed upon that Dach has a higher ceiling than Suzuki. but because Dach has been dealing with too many injuries, there's no way MTL gets proper value for him in a trade. He <strong>needs</strong> to get healthy.
And if MTL were able to get another top 6 C (not a huge priority) like a Lindstrom at the draft, Dach can easily be moved to the wing, where he also had a lot of success.</div></div>

Fair enough, jets can’t make the deal either, need ability to have some competition in camp with some of the kids coming and or possibly ufa, roster spots are pretty full at the moment.

Another Rossi Idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Lot of different factors there:
- They traded Romanov because they knew they had Guhle (who had yet to play a game in the NHL yet) ready to step up and take his place, and probably didn't want Romanov blocking his path.
- Romanov was probably at his highest possible value when he was traded for 13th overall.
- Habs management probably value Guhle much higher than they did Romanov.
Look, you've made trade proposals on here for Guhle (for Holtz), other teams fan bases have made pitches for Guhle as well (this thread being another example)...Why? Because he's MTLs most well-rounded two-way LD with top pairing potential.
And I've said this before, 1 on 1 comparisons never being perfect, but Guhle is essentially a younger version of Jacob Slavin. Teams don't trade those kinds of players; they keep them around. Which is why Guhle should be considered an untouchable for MTL.
Not to mention it looks like Guhle will be signing an extension this summer. Probably somewhere in the range of $5.5mil aav (mid to short term) and as high $7mil aav (8 year max deal).</div></div>
I have consistently said Guhle is worth a top 10 pick and they shouldn’t move him. But using the Dach deal, he was acquired by trading away a promising young dman

I guess it makes sense. Kovacevic is on a dirt-cheap contract, has solid analytics on a poor defensive team, is 6'5'' playing an "in-demand" position (RD), and can fight if needed. There's a lot to like. Perhaps this is all the more reason to keep him.</div></div>

If MTL get lucky and win Celebrini sweepstakes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>You could use the same argument for Matheson. Not to mention Utah would probably prefer using their cap space on higher quality forwards (Marchessault, Toffoli, etc.) than overpaying for the available D market (Someone like Brady Skjei could be looking at upwards of $6mil aav deals...horrible). I don't think it can be understated just how valuable someone like Matheson <strong>at $4.8mil aav</strong> can be.</div></div>
Fair enough good argument, same token can be said for a pesce add to Utah or a selling team that some token seconds would be suffice to add what is needed. If Utah swings for a guentzel or Reinhart, possibly a Crouse comes available, just to keep from blocking doan, Guenther, geekie. Will be interesting offseason with that many picks and cap to play with.

If Utah is a buyer this offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>True, I'm just going off the assumption that the owner in Utah will want to speed up the process to be competitive. Barron and Lamoureux are actually fairly similar prospects (both former 1sts, both played for Canada at the WJ), but Barron is older and more NHL ready. The big difference is Lamoureux is waiver exempt, Barron isn't. But the difference in value between Crouse and Matheson more than makes up for it imo.
The only reach is the early 2nd rd pick. Matheson is way more valuable than Crouse. Tried to make up the difference with swapping Barron with Lamoureux and adding a pick. If anything, the pick should be downgraded or removed.</div></div>
Yeah like Barron is not unvaluable, and there is a gap between matheson and crouse, i just dont think they would be looking to speed up their rebuild in that way. Maybe they buy a couple guys in exchange for some of their second round picks or sign some FAs with their capspace though

Habs should at least consider trading Guhle
Truthfully, they'd be better off going for Marco Rossi whom has a connection to DR. He's already in the trade rumours according to Michael Russo, beat reporter of the Wild, and said it's a high chance that Marco gets moved for more scoring/size.
Marco would be a cheaper price and would fit a need in the center of the ice instead of relying on Dach's health and Beck to make the immediate jump. The Wild need scoring so one of Mesar/Farrell could easily be included with a Dvorak so this would fit the same model as the Newhook trade as the Habs get their promise and the other team Avs/Wild have the more established player Ross Colton/Dvorak

Listening to the end of season press conference from Hughes and Gorton, the priority will definitely be on selecting a forward. But I guess you can never rule out picking another dman.
I think your expectations of where Catton drops is wrong. If some teams buy into the Cooley comparisons, he's long gone by 10th overall.</div></div>

Not to mention if Barron hits (which is still very much a possibility), it would be a very painful trade considering MTL just gets a late 1st and a meh prospect... If Barron were to hit with, let's say, a west coast team, not a big deal, congrats to Barron, MTL can move on. But with the Leafs.. habs would be reminded of it for the next decade.... no thanks to that.</div></div>
Also, In term of organisational depth - I doubt habs can afford to trade two RHD in one trade... we have LHD available.. but Mailloux and Reinbacher are likely 1 or 2 season out before making the Jump.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>Agreed, but it's very rare that it's the player that opts to NOT turn pro, it tends to be the other way around. Lane Hutson wanted to turn pro last year, but it was MTL that told him to return to BU (same happened to Caufield a few years back too with Wisconsin), Cutter Gauthier wanted to sign with PHI last year, but it was Philly that told him to return to BC and look how that turned out.
Only other instances of players, I can think of, opting to return to the NCAA on their own were Adam Fox (although in his case he made it very clear he wasn't signing with CGY, so not a good comparable), Jimmy Vesey was another case a while back with NSH (and he really strung the Preds along up until the very end...)
Again, it's a rare case, and WAY too early to think it means he doesn't want to sign.</div></div>
Jimmy snuggerud is doing the same with st Louis and likely still stays with them after next year. Fact is some players prefer to complete their education and goals (frozen four, hobey baker, captaincy, etc)

If they were going to the playoffs I'd agree with you but down the stretch of a lost season is <em>exactly</em> why you'd put an inexperienced 20-year-old on PP1.
