Hughes is better than Chabot or Weegar. Spurgeon and Burns have no place in top 10.

Svechnikov... Totally
Dobson... Yes
Seider is much better than Dobson, but Dobson is better than K'Andre Miller.
Podkolzin should be an extra on the team since he has the upside of an elite winger

Lindholm is nowhere here. Replace him with Miller or Pettersson.
Hughes is much better than Reilly or Chabot
Slavin has to be here.
Zuccarello shouldn't be in this list

Love Letter To HuGo So Far
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>It was nice, but honestly it was Carey Price and Shea Weber emptying the tank that got them there. The team had no business being there in the first place and the players he gave big contacts to were not a part of the solution (Gallagher 6.5M/6 years, Anderson 5.5M/7 years, Armia 3.4M/4 years).
The team could not sustainably win and the coach he hired was a total disaster. The assistant coach (and Weber) got them past rounds 2 & 3 when Ducharme got Covid. They actually played better without him.
I do not think Bergevin deserves a lot of praise in the win. His drafting record and inability to make impactful trades speak for themselves. He could not evaluate talent.
He famously said, "you cannot trade for a Center, you need to draft one". In less than 1 year HuGo has traded Romanov for Dach & Cap Space for Monahan. In 10 years Bergevin did not bring in an additional 1st. HuGo has brought us 3 so far in year 1.
Even the Pacioretty trade... He didn't want Suzuki, he almost killed the trade fighting to have Glass. Imagine if he'd gotten his wish where this team would be and how they would feel about the trade.</div></div>
Thanks for the detailed information

Buffalo Sabres signed Tage Thompson (7 Years / $7,142,857 AAV)
I think this is a big risk. I don't see him as a 1C but he is getting paid like one. His jump was too steep. He was basically a fringe player last year and now they pay him like he is their future 1C after 1 great season

That is totally fine. Kadri is going to be a 50 pt guy at 7 million, so as long as he stays around 80pts, the deal is good

Would be a great team. My only problem would be that Newhook is 2C and too many young players. In 2 years, this could be an amazing team

Wouldn't mind getting Bjork then, but I don't know if we should move DiPietro out. I have my reservations about it.

On Bergevin, I think he deserves some love for taking the Canadiens to the finals. You guys are kind of ignoring the fact that Montreal was thrilled to see their team in the finals just a year ago

Good analysis. I seem to like the moves from Hughes and Gorton like shipping Lehkonen for a great offer and acquiring Monahan from the desperate Flames. HuGo have played ball well.
I, however, feel it was a mistake to select Slafkovsky, but I could be wrong. Gorton's drafting has been hit and miss. He struck on Bergeron, but has struck out on Lias Andersson and Kakko so far. However, he has been doing well so far.

Durzi for Hoglander isn't that bad
And
Lias Andersson for Rathbone is quite good

Boston about to lose Bergeron and Krejci to retirement and so will either rebuild or overspend on someone like Horvat
So while it's nice to fantisize he will only ask for 6 reality is 2 other C's on his team are making more and when it's his turn he's gonna want the same</div></div>
The situation is different. Horvat wants to stay. Horvat ain't worth 8 million. When Miller gets 8, Horvat doesn't.

Also PLD has one year though he is an RFA. Pearson is not poop. Horvat is one of the best faceoff men in the NHL and would help Carolina greatly. We could add Rathbone to the package too or a 2024 1st

Horvat will sign a 6.75 million. He is not JT Miller level. The max I would go to is 7.25 million.
