2022-23 TDL Approach Redux
i'd like colorado to add dowd for sure, i think they'd be looking for some salary retained though if they're moving a first for a 4C. With his cap hit at 1.3 i don't think it wouldn't be anything really that noticeable for the caps next year but i'd think something around 500k.

Probably Too Out There
Kings aren't trading Arthur Kaliyev for a rental whose contract is under water and whose cap hit (even with the retention) would require another move to absorb. We're getting our own self-rental back when Viktor Arvidsson comes off the LTIR list, anyway.

The basis of the Calgary trade isn't bad. Jensen is a decent shutdown D and they will need to fill that hole if Tanev is traded. That being said, other teams may be able to offer a 1st and a solid prospect and out bid Washington here.

Lindholm is an excellent two way center. He isn't a liability without the pick. He just lacks talented wingers to play with in Calgary.

Lindholm is a definite upgrade over Kuzy. In the last 5 years (since coming to Calgary), he has more points, more pts/gp a better plus minus, a better GVSA, is younger, and has less of a cap hit.
Similarly, Lindholm is better than strome in every statistic over the same time span. Strome's ONLY advantage is that he is 3 years younger.

You’re missing the entire point obviously. They are moving Laine and replacing him w a player that fill a position of need. They can also get Lindholm if they feel it’s necessary

Mythological Beasts
I recognize that Keumper is a good goalie, but also as I predicted back when he signed that deal, he was going to be exposed as not a great goalie. Given he's a few years older than Gibson, I don't see Anaheim having interest in that.
We're also pretty happy with Leason and Carrick as our Tone line. The biggest headache with this trade is that we don't have to make it, we'd be exchanging some pieces were happy with now for more futures. I just don't think that's in the teams best interest.
We'll still be selling pieces this TDL, but it'll be for pieces that aren't a part of the future. Gibson and Leason still have a spot here.

A lot of them want KJ, Fantilli, or Jiricek, plus a 1st, plus another prospect out of the Jackets if that helps to answer that question for you.

Agreed that in this scenario it's too much to give up for Lindholm. However, in what world is Lindholm "Kuznetsov in disguise"?? Point production wise, they are similar, but that's where the comparison ends. Lindholm hits more, blocks more shots, plays on the PK, actually WINS face offs, and, was 10th in Selke voting this year(2nd last year). Not similar players at all. :)

Malenstyn should make the team and play for a few weeks ( months?) until Patches is ready.

Honestly with WASH current team I dont see this helping enough - Keller fine plug in right away, cooley still a bit away and the 6OA is few years away, and with WASH age. they wont have high picks for years to fill out complete team.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Victor24</b></div><div>Teams moving towards a rebuild shouldn't trade 1sts more than a year down the road.</div></div>
First off, I'm glad you all think it's an overpay, that's a good sign on this site lol
But I also don't think you all realize what this would do to the Caps. If they do this trade there's no rebuild happening for another 15-20 years. In 4 years this team looks like:
Keller-Cooley-Michkov
Miroschnenchko-Strome-Suzdalev
McMichael-Lapierre-Protas
Sandin-Iorio
Fehervary-Chesley
Along with some other good youth like Alexeyev, Trineyev, Hofer, etc. I'm not saying it's perfect, they would still need a #1D but they will have a slew of cap space with Ovi, Backy, Oshie, Carly, Kuz all gone. And the next 2-4 years Ekblad, Theodore, Chychurn, Makar, Hughes are all defensive free agents.

Disagree on the fit because the caps are uber slow and Girard would help them pick up the pace, especially breaking out of their own zone. And he's actually been a lot better defensively since getting a longer stick at the new year.

I'm frankly just not a believer in Fehervary. Puts me at odds with a lot of folks, but to my core I believe the Caps are best served moving him out ASAP for a proven guy, and if Girard is available I can't think of a better grab to make for the contract value.</div></div>
Makes sense. I actually just posted an ACGM based off of what you did here and my suggestions if you wanna take a look at that.
I love Fehervary, he's one of my favorite players, so I'm very biased and don't wanna move him lol.

I assume this means we’re only retaining 25% if my reading comprehension skills are up to par lol. I wouldn’t mind doing this trade at all. Opening up 6M in cap space and acquiring 2 picks is a pretty good move for a guy who publicly requested a trade. Kuznetsov would probably thrive next to Kaprizov.

Sheary's going to get far too much imo. His recent slump is concerning, selling high would be the right move. As for Mantha, I think he needs a fair chance in the top 6 with a coach that isn't going to play him 8 minutes a game at the start of the year when he's producing. He was, before being fully chucked into the doghouse, on pace for over 50 points, his issues are deployment and not skill.

I think the problem is more so that Borgen is the most valuable asset since he is younger and has RFA rights, and has solidified himself as a second pairing RD. The Kraken have the assets to get MoJo or a similar depth forward without sacrificing a key present and future piece of the blue line.

Meier-o Academia
To be honest, this seems to be a lot of stuff San Jose doesn't want, mixed in with one or two pieces of note.
Mantha is someone who could be awesome yes, but I doubt a team still years out and in the midst of a rebuild would want Mantha in place of picks/prospects.
Same for Mantha with Sheary, but with a lower ceiling and even less incentive for San Jose since he's a UFA to be and will likely have a team or two willing to overpay based on production alone.
Same x3 for Gustafsson, he's produced really well in DC but he's also 30 with an expiring contract, I highly doubt a rebuilding team would look at him as a long term replacement over their prospects.
Same x4 with Snively, who looks great in small samples but realistically maxes out at a 3rd liner and is also 27, he'd only block San Jose from playing better prospects.
All of the guys I just listed (minus Snively probably) could get you decent returns from other contenders, but a rebuilding team like San Jose is likely uninterested by older wingers and defense, especially when they can hunt for players similar to Sheary, Gustafsson, Snively in free agency if they really want to.
Lapierre, the 1st, and the 3rd could all be pieces that San Jose would actually consider, but given the supposed asks from New Jersey and Carolina, Washington would have to add <strong>at least</strong> another strong prospect (ex. Miroshnichenko, Chesley) or another 1st round pick to maybe get themselves in the conversation, and I don't see Washington taking a risk like that with the playoff situation the way it is currently.
