Canucks balance roster and gain futures
The idea here is for the Canucks to improve the balance of their roster while boosting their draft capital but using their new-found cap space after the OEL buyout. Johansen slots into the 3C and improves the centre depth of the Canucks organization, albeit with an inefficient contract despite the amount retained by Nashville. The cost of dumping that cap space is reflected in the first round pick that Nashville is giving up. Nashville gains by moving out one of their more inefficient contracts, freeing up cap space for improving other ares of their roster.
Garland goes to Nashville for the third round pick. Now that Vancouver is less pressed against the cap they can more comfortable ask for an actual return for Garland, that being a mid round pick in this trade.

If Islanders are serious about MIller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>The islanders are not trading Wahlstrom for miller</div></div>
I know, that's not enough for a guy of Miller's caliber. Players who can win faceoff, run a powerplay, PK, play hard, match up against other top players, and still put up 80-99 points don't grow on trees. Players that do all of the for under 5.5 million are effectively unicorns. Thus the two high picks thrown in.
But in all honesty, Wahlstrom is the only player not named Barzal, Pulock, or Dobson that would get the conversation started.

If Kuzmenko works out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tea</b></div><div>Garland is closer to a fringe top 6, even middle 6 player. he's not exactly a high end talent...</div></div>
Garland had the same p/60 at 5v5 as Sebastian Aho last season. Would you call Aho a middling player too?

The Canucks aren't getting enough back from Garland, and aren't giving up nearly enough in the other two trades. Every trade is declined.

Caps get potential solid winger
Unless Washington has some Kompromat on Allvin or Rutherford this will never go through. Why would the Canucks have any interest in that trade at all? Replace Eller with McMichael, Protas with Chesley and the 2nd rounder for a first rounder if you want one of the leagues best 5v5 players on a sweetheart contract with term.

Assuming Miller Extension In Place
That return is terrible for Miller. I know that the market for scoring forwards is depressed right now, but if Allvin agrees to that trade he may as well start packing up his things the moment he puts his phone down.

Some trades
The trade with Tampa would make a tonne of sense from Vancouver's perspective, would Tampa have any interest in it though? I haven't followed Foote recently, has his stock dropped to the point where he could be moved for a struggling winger, albeit one with potential?

Thread:
If NYR goes for Miller lineup
Replace Lundkvist with Schneider, remove the Lockwood for Reaves swap, and you may actually get some interest from Vancouver. The Canucks already have two small, high skill, offense first defensemen, adding a third in Lundkvist doesn't help. Just because he shoots right doesn't automatically mean that he is a fit for the Canucks.
And if you do want to dump Reaves' cap onto the Canucks you'll have to add more, and as we've seen recently the cost to move out cap isn't cheap.

Vancouver aims for local kidfuture star
The fourth Vancouver adds is arbitrary, I mostly just wanted it to be Vancouver adding the sweetener in this scenario and Vancouver has and extra fourth round pick in 2023 hanging around. I would expect that Columbus would want 50% retention on Miller as well as a draft pick in order to even begin conversation about this trade, with another conditional asset going Columbus' way if Miller does not re-sign with them.
That being said, Columbus seems to be becoming a bit of a destination and may be somewhere that Miller wants to stay.

Cancouver Vanucks
If Vancouver is sending Miller to Columbus then K. Johnson should be their target, even if Vancouver ends up being the team that adds a sweetener to get it done.

No Dobson or Barzal Miller to Isles
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hwjw</b></div><div>In what world does that move the needle for the Canucks.</div></div>
It wouldn't be about moving the needle this upcoming season, but to improve in the long term. I know that may seem foreign to Canucks fans, but other teams do stuff like that all the time.
Outside of that, it looks like I've stumbled upon a rare "both teams say no" trade scenario.

Canucks keep Bo and JT
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Warpbox</b></div><div>Miller isn’t going to sign for that.</div></div>
I based the Miller deal on Kadri's and built out from there. He's the closest comparable in terms of player vs what the current market seems willing to bear on players like Miller and Kadri.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Warpbox</b></div><div>And Severson definitely doesn’t sign for that</div></div>
What kind of range do you think is realistic for Severson?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>No from Winnipeg. They have no need for any LD.</div></div>
I won't pretend that I know what WPG needs at the moment, I've just liked Harkins for a while and Brisebois reminds me too much of Jim Benning and how he justified moving 2nd round picks because you could still get a guy like Bweezebwah in the third round.
