Dubois Worst deal in the league
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>first off, there is zero evidence that this was discussed. there was speculation from reporters. obviously, it doesn't make any sense. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the worst contract in the league isn't moved for positive value.
secondly, ullmark shut down talks with LA, why do we think that changes?</div></div>
The more this has been discussed, the more I believe the deal was Matt Roy and a goalie for Linus Ullmark. Maybe an extra pick to Boston.
Boston went out and got a player in Andrew Peeke who plays RD and has a physical profile similar to Roy plus Ullmark on a one year contract is at the exact dollar figure where LA can sign Byfield to a non bridge deal.
On a side note, I read a lot of Boston fans stating with a high degree of confidence that Don Sweeney would NOT trade for the PLD contract.
I am confident that if he likes his physical skill set and fit in the team, Don Sweeney has the guts to do any deal regardless of the public perception and probably wouldn’t listen to any of the hyperbole about his contract. I also believe he wouldn’t let a limited sample size change his opinion of a player. While I wouldn’t want a PLD deal, he was someone Sweeney was rumored to have discussed acquiring earlier in the year from Winnipeg and he has some strengths that are currently weaknesses on the Boston roster. I am pretty confident if he did this deal, he would extract the value necessary to take the contract though I’m not sure how much that would that be. Sweeney is a good GM.

Looking at them
I think this trade makes a ton of sense for both side assuming that Ullmark is both willing to go to and extend in Ottawa. The only team we know for sure is on his NTC is LA since that's the one he apparently vetoed at the deadline. Bruins have also been interested in Chychrun for forever, so makes sense on our end too.

Off-season
Even if Ullmark agrees, that could be disastrous for Ottawa as he could leave after just 1 year
We gave up 12th OA and two 2nds for Chychrun... not saying we'd get as much right now but an UFA goalie... never seen anything like that in the real world
Oh and Ottawa is not going to buyout MacEwen, they can just play him in the AHL as his low salary wouldn't count on the cap.

That's more than Ottawa gave up to acquire him with two+ years of term. If anyone offers a package like that with only one+ year of term the Sens should absolutely take it. That being said, I'd be furious if the Isles were the team to overpay by that much.

by that logic ALL Rentals should only garner 4th to 7th round picks....getting tired of excuses for bad trades, bad singings bad decisions from this team. you wont see Yzerman make these bad trades....**** Senko had a NTC last year and would only waive for NYR and STL still got a crap more than this...

that is a stupid statement, i guess if a team offered 2 7th for Stu OTT should accept because 2 picks is better than none.

OTT did not have to trade Senko, they could have told him sorry no one wants to do fair trade your staying, no trade is better than a bad one 100% of the time.

I was expecting something like what the Blues got last year when Tarasenko also had a NTC.
A low 1st + a conditional 3rd or 4th.

I mean I don’t see him being traded but I’m more willing to move him than other Sens fans . But let’s say for argument sake he was available ,
The ask is :
Quinn or Peterka + the 8th overall

All out for Swayman
Their GsAx suggests that it is more about them than the Boston defense, but this article is the type of click bait where the first deal is too much and the second deal is not enough.
An Ullmark to NJ deal makes a ton of sense if Boston can parlay that pick into a good pending free agent

I'm not saying the Rangers will acquire him, but I literally copied my quote from the bottom of page 272/top of page 273 of the CBA (though I added the bolding).

It’s not even close Loafs add. Tkachuk is signed long term at a great number. Oddly enough this is a Shanahan to the Red Wings type of trade.

lol sigh, Brannstrom is 185 lbs and isn't scared of making contact to make a play (like some bigger guys). Of course he can't push around 6'4 forwards but he is quite solid 2-way, hence his very good advanced stats.

Not even a 2nd for Tarasenko? It would be extremely surprising that another team doesn't beat this offer in terms of quality
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>sens decline all. We dont need Addison, not the type of dman we need at all</div></div>
I was going to say that. Addison is the LAST type of D-man we need.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brad_Treliving</b></div><div>Leafs aren't giving you 3 mid level picks, let alone one, for a soft, undersized defensemen. Maybe if this Leafs team was under Dubas, I could see it</div></div>
Brannstrom is just small, he's not soft at all.
He's quite underrated, he leads the Sens at ES in CF%, SF% and xGF%, CA/60, GA/60 the last 2 seasons combined. Second to Zub in SA/60 and xGA/60.
That return is meh, I would target a young 2-way forward.

Dude just threw Leafs trade in to generate traffic. Obviously nonsensical - inter division trades are rare, Leafs have better internal options for LHD & Leafs not wasting precious assets on undersized, bottom pairing dman from 28th place team

I literally hate the concept of this deal. Two streaky players, but give me DeBrusk’s defense any day of the weak.
DeBrusk is in the 90th percentile in terms of EV defense. Bertuzzi is in the 20th percentile.
I’d be open to bringing Bertuzzi back in free agency, but zero interest in DeBrusk for him
