Zero chance this happens. It's Hughes or the Bruins are keeping Swayman.

Sway for Hischier deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>You have to look at goalie ufa market to gauge the replacement or upgrade value of a goalie, possibly look something similar at the hishier replacement value. The margin between the 4/5 year older ufa that wants similiar money and term to hishier makes him rather more valuable than the difference between swayman and top ufa goalie, ufa goalie possibly a bandaid approach, but keeps your captain in the fold. Nj sinks or swims with Hughes and hishier.</div></div>
The hardest part of reading these is the level of trying to over complicate the obvious trade. Ullmark to the Devils makes a ton of sense, but between Devils fans getting greedy trying to get Swayman and now this.
For the record, I did post a sarcastic deal involving these two previously. See them being on the same realm of not happening no matter how many times people try to mansplain why goalies are worth less when their goalies suck

I would do that as the sens, there might also be interest in Knight if the panthers would take forsberg back in the deal too but thats a bit riskier

I wouldnt be opposed to bringing in couture if he was retained so the sens could maintain a bit of cap flexibility, but the sharks have all their retention slots used up next season so it wouldnt be possible. He is also 35 years old and is coming off a season-ending injury himself, so im not sure the injury risk is necessarily lower than norris. If we need a 3C with leadership (which I do think we need), I think there would be cheaper and more cost effective options

I don’t think Ottawa has the cap space to afford Tanev’s 3.5m on the third line.
Purely based on value I don’t mind it at all.

Hopeful Summer
The 1st would likely need to be this years instead of the '25 1st, Atkinson doesnt really boost the value of the return and Zamula wouldnt really help the Sens either as a LD so I. dont think the nucleus of this deal works. I saw some Konecny for Chychrun swaps on here from Flyers fans which I think would be interesting with Konecny;s Ottawa ties from junior and the sens need for top 6 wingers. Both oending ufas too.
But if a package built around Bonk was tabled I think the Sens would be all ears. The last name on top of the positional need would have them hooked for sure.

Bradyyyy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SpiderSpiderSpider28</b></div><div>I definitely think you're in the right here, Brady is leaps bounds valleys and miles away the most valuable player in this trade and Ottawa truly has 0 reason to trade him unless the deal makes sense. An older player who's slightly worse and a pending UFA, an older LHD with a big contract who would be the 3rd best LHD in their system, and a couple of good but not great picks isn't close to what Ottawa should be asking for here IMO.
If I were Ottawa, my semi-realistic asking price for Tkachuk alone (not even beginning to think about Chychrun) would be Farabee, Bonk, Philly's 2024 1st as a baseline with them probably even adding a little bit more</div></div>
Yes that’s probably more realistic. Or Crouse + Arizona 1st this year plus a couple of 2nds .

Either Pasta or McAvoy straight up is enough. Cornerstone piece for cornerstone piece is rarely the way these trades go though.

offseason
Turcotte is hitting that make-or-break age, and from what little I can see he hasn't shown that he is going to make the leap to top-6 NHLer. The potential is still there, but at this point it seems like a bit of a long shot.
Meanwhile, the Bruins are giving up the the more valuable roster pieces in the trade for nothing but longshots of filling in their own roster needs. I think they can do better for Ullmark, but if they can't then at the very least they should not take back contracts to maximize cap space, and they shouldn't need to add sweeteners like Brazeau to move Ullmark.

Didn't Ullmark block a trade to the West Coast already? That aside, the trade is utterly horrific for Boston. Ullmark would play out the season and leave in UFA long before Boston makes that deal..

As a Flyers fan, I'm sorry but that's a crazy take. Having a great partner for Drysdale who is *only one year older than Cates mind you* is a way, way, way bigger need than a bottom-6 forward. Briere should do this in a heartbeat if this is the asking price

Dubois Worst deal in the league
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>first off, there is zero evidence that this was discussed. there was speculation from reporters. obviously, it doesn't make any sense. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the worst contract in the league isn't moved for positive value.
secondly, ullmark shut down talks with LA, why do we think that changes?</div></div>
The more this has been discussed, the more I believe the deal was Matt Roy and a goalie for Linus Ullmark. Maybe an extra pick to Boston.
Boston went out and got a player in Andrew Peeke who plays RD and has a physical profile similar to Roy plus Ullmark on a one year contract is at the exact dollar figure where LA can sign Byfield to a non bridge deal.
On a side note, I read a lot of Boston fans stating with a high degree of confidence that Don Sweeney would NOT trade for the PLD contract.
I am confident that if he likes his physical skill set and fit in the team, Don Sweeney has the guts to do any deal regardless of the public perception and probably wouldn’t listen to any of the hyperbole about his contract. I also believe he wouldn’t let a limited sample size change his opinion of a player. While I wouldn’t want a PLD deal, he was someone Sweeney was rumored to have discussed acquiring earlier in the year from Winnipeg and he has some strengths that are currently weaknesses on the Boston roster. I am pretty confident if he did this deal, he would extract the value necessary to take the contract though I’m not sure how much that would that be. Sweeney is a good GM.

Looking at them
I think this trade makes a ton of sense for both side assuming that Ullmark is both willing to go to and extend in Ottawa. The only team we know for sure is on his NTC is LA since that's the one he apparently vetoed at the deadline. Bruins have also been interested in Chychrun for forever, so makes sense on our end too.
