Finding a trade for Barron
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Thanks! Yeah these kinda posts are tricky. Bourque would be my #1 of the 3 options here</div></div>
As a Stars fan, I wouldn’t trade Bourque or Stankoven. They are putting up some great numbers playing together in Austin. Come next year I would expect them both to be playing in Dallas on the same line. I don’t see a spot for Barron. Lundkvist is a work in progress, but he’s coming along fine. With the Harley - Miro pair clicking, I don’t see the value of bringing in Barron while losing Bourque.

I feel like that I too high for Tanev, but that third pair could be interesting. Also, I would put Benn on the LW for that line.

You’ve been tricked by fans of other teams trying to pump up prices. The goalie market may be higher than it usually is. It’s not this much higher</div></div>
As a Dallas fan, I agree this is an overpay… but the only way Dallas trades Wedgewood is by replacing him. In this scenario, the trade would be from another team. Hanley is the perfect 7th defenseman.
What would you trade for Wedgewood and Hanley.

I don’t see Dallas trading Bichsel. He could play in Dallas next season. I could see him playing next to Tanev though.

Possible TDL Moves
It’s plausible that Dallas moves Dellandrea, but I doubt it’s for Mantha. The desire of Dallas would be to improve the PK or backup goaltending. Also, adding defensive depth on the backend for a cup run.

G C D swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>I might want a little extra draft compensation (25 3rd rounder?) and would be a bit annoyed taking back the extra year of Dadonov (and he may not waive his NTC) but I would say that's pretty fair.
Would still want to see what Dowd/Lindgren could get moving them separately as well, especially Lindgren to a team in need of a starter/1b and not just a better backup</div></div>
From a Dallas perspective, I would like to rest Otter more. Having Lindgren is good insurance incase something happens. I like the game Dowd can bring.
You might have a better return by moving both separately. When looking at pieces to sell, I notice you don’t have many centers. How about another variation…
Dellandrea + Dadonov + Wedgewood + 24 1st

Dowd + Pacioretty + Lindgren

G C D swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>Depends a lot on how Caps management feels about Bischel, he seems to be putting up good but not great D+2 numbers but have no opinion on him personally beyond that.
Overall though I would say Fehervary probably doesn't make sense for the Caps to move in a package like this, where they're trading him for a guy that theoretically could play his role in a year or two. He's only 24 and just re-signed on a great deal, I think the only reason they would move him is in a package for an elite forward.
Dowd + Lindgren for the 24 1st + a little extra + salary filler is something I think definitely would work though</div></div>
I agree that Fehervary and Bichsel will probably be similar players. Bichsel still needs to adjust to the smaller ice of the US.
Would you say that Dowd + Lindgren for a 24 1st + Wedgewood + Dadonov a fair trade?

Don’t you think a goalie should go back the other way? There needs to be some sort of cap balancing.

The value isn’t there. Dallas needs a bottom six forward and a solid defenseman. There are way better options than this package. I think Hanifin would cost less and be a better defenseman. Add in a bottom six veteran like Nic Dowd or Oskar Sundqvist and Dallas improves the team overall for a cup run without selling the farm.

Could you also trade Smith for Sundqvist (Blues) or another salary min defensive minded veteran forward for the fourth line. If Dal matches up against Col in the playoffs, they will need that type of depth.

As others have stated, Suter won’t waive. I don’t think Nill would trade him either. With Dallas matching up against either Wpg, Col, or maybe Nsh, I do think a deal for a defenseman will happen. Maybe depth veteran forward as well. We (Dallas) need to be a little more tidy.

I think this is an overpay to get Walker. Also, our PK gets worse. Could you also trade for someone like Oskar Sundkvist from the Blues. At least we would have another Veteran PK guy.

If so, this can be an in season trade. They should give the guys a chance early on. No need in selling assets out of fear of failure. I see the defense as…
Harley - Miro
Suter - Nils
Lindell - Hawk
At any point they could change this up, but preseason should be a good test for them.

I’ve contemplated splitting Wyatt and Benn up. I need a better metric. Expected goals for and Corsica don’t do enough for me. I think good ole regression will be the key to figuring it out. Obviously PDB kept them together for a reason, but I’d like a better explanation mathematically.

can heiskanen play right side well
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Phleb2</b></div><div>That's not the question that you should ask because, of course, he can play on his weak side. Sames goes with Makar, Hedman, Fox, Karlsson, etc.
The real question is why in hell play him on his weak side when you could really unleashed him playing on his strong side? Why do you limit the performance of your Franchise D to accomodate a washed up Vet?
Why try to lift the floor instead of reaching for the ceiling? You know, just like the vast majority (if not all) of the other teams do with their best D.</div></div>
Some players don’t care which side they play on because it doesn’t affect their game. I haven’t seen a stat showing improvement of players from left to right. Interesting to check though.
